what is your favorite custom savage stock?

KRP nailed it, Joel is a treat to work with and his work is top notch. Here is a pic of his A3/A5 model

I love the looks and glowing recommendations of the Russo stocks.

Sharp Shooter Supply also make a nice laminate but I'd still go with Joel if you wanted wood.

I had the same question a year ago. Being a long action and left handed there are almost no off-the-shelf good stocks to be had. A custom stock was the only way available. So, when the moths flew out of my wallet, I went with a Stockade Tactical/Pdog Special Moneysaver. It was $200. I did all the finishing and painting myself.

I was thinking of getting a stockade myself as well. Of course I'm concerned of the quality, but they look top notch.

Quality is top notch. Be warned, Kevin, the owner of Stockade may call and ask a couple questions and chat for a while. Very friendly guy.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

+1 for a synthetic stock
I've got two of Kevins P-Dogs Specials. Awesome stocks for the money.
He's a great guy to deal with!

I've got 2 of the Richards that I ordered before I knew anything about Joel's operation. Both of them required a lot more work to get ready to finish than the two that I"ve ordered from Joel. One of them has the barrel channel slightly off center.

That's not to say they're not worth the money, they just take more time and effort to get good final results.

Here's some more reading on the topic.

I've heard that Richard fine tunes them with a chainsaw before they get sent out.:D

Many of the same negative comments being said over on Savage Shooters.
