Does anyone have any youth load data for a 30-06 with 125gr bullets? I have tried the H 4895 and it shoots ok but would like to try something different. Thanks

Take this post over to accuratereloading.com. There is a poster there by the name of Seafire that has played with tons of light loads in alot of different cartridges. I think he took his deer this year with a 30 caliber with a muzzle velocity of about 1800 fps and a speer tnt. The heart was destroyed like it got hit by a 30-06!

Well...he didn't pick up on it over at accurate reloading.....he might be spending more time at 24 hour campfire.com or maybe he's not on line that much during the holidays.

Since you mention H4895 I assume you've already seen the HODGDON YOUTH LOADS. Speer list "some" reduced loads in 30-06 although, none for 125 grain bullets. Below is a few samples from my Speer manual:

110 grain bullets: XMP 5744 - 26.0 / 27.0 Grains (1956 / 2033 Muzzle FPS*)
130 grain bullets: XMP 5744 - 25.0 / 27.0 Grains (1814 / 1941 Muzzle FPS*)
150 grain bullets: XMP 5744 - 26.0 / 28.0 Grains (1933 / 2052 Muzzle FPS*)
165 grain bullets: SR - 4759 - 21.0 / 25.0 Grains (1616 / 1941 Muzzle FPS*)
180 grain bullets: IMR-4198 - 26.0 / 30.0 Grains (1723 / 2000 Muzzle FPS*)

*Speer lists a 22-inch barrel for their load data.

Pick up a Copy of Hodgdon's 2009 reloading magazine. There's an article on p. 58-61 about moderate effective loads, for women and children.

they list loads for a 130 grain and 150 grain Barnes TSX bullet.
