When did this outfit come about? First I've heard of them.
From what I saw on their web site, the sample targets didn't look to good.
The bullet pic with the core shedding out of the jacket wasn't too impressive for a "bonded" bullet.
Neither did they have a heavy 270 bullet.
Never having shot them, and probably won't as they don't have the type I need, we'll have to wait until someone else chimes in.

I was looking up rebated boat tail bullets and they popped up.
I know what you mean about the targets. I saw those and thought these are the "best" targets they could shoot and then put up on their webpage?
For all the reasons above (and the price) I thought the same thing.
I'll wait until someone that has shot them and has data, good or bad, chimes in.
According to this web page, Matrix bullets are located in Delta, British Columbia.

OK, so there was something wrong with the other computer. Here goes:
It's possible that they purchased wildcat. I've spoken with the owner recently and I have some 270's 150 gr on the way. The owner seems like a stand up guy and I hope to test their bullets out real soon. He also mentioned that he can make them in other weights as well.
I noticed on their site that bullet that came apart from the jacket said that it was a non bonded bullet.
Roy, I'll let you know how the 150's perform for me. Hopefully that will give you an idea of what a larger grained bullet would do for you.
So here is the data that I will be going after, if there is anything else you'd like to see let me know.
Brass: mfg, o.a.l., weight
Primer: mfg, (mag, BR, or match)
Powder: mfg, type, grains per load
Bullet: o.a.l., weight
speed through chrono
conditions: altitude, temp, b.p., wind
I will test it on some wet newspaper as well and recover bullets to see what its retained weight is. I'll take pictures of the targets, as well as before and after of the bullets. I won't be able to shoot at great distances anytime real soon but 100 yards should do the trick until I can get somewhere to stretch my legs.

I just received an email from Marshal of Matrix and he said that they did not purchase Wildcat Bullets from Richard.
He said he hasn't had any luck producing a VLD that gives great accuracy.
I'd asked him about 7mm bullets and he said that tomorrow he would make the heaviest one he could and get back to me as to how it turns out. I'm not sure about the ogive configuration as he mentioned a couple of different profiles.
He said that he has J4 jackets on order, but for the time being he uses Sierra 2200s or the Corbin J30 jackets. He said he has new dies on order so it sounds like he's having the same problems with die and jacket supply that Richard was.

Just got another email from Marshal and he said about the heaviest he could make in 7mm would be 198 grains with a .090" meplat on J30 jackets. He said the estimated BC would be around .532.
I told him the type of bullet needed for long range stuff and the ranges we shoot at and the BCs we'd hope for in a long range bullet so we'll see if he makes any changes.
I told him I'd pass on them now but to let me know if he ever gets the VLD configuration problems straightened out.

I believe the Wildcat bullets in 169.5 class in 277 were corbin jackets (They were tapered jackets, I believe) and performed on the high side of expectations in every category.
The 195s in 277 were Sierra jackets and didn't pan out at all. Dusted badly in my slightly warn barrel. Plus they never ever shot well. I think they were on the edge of failure from the get go.
The bullets shown on the web page, thought they couldn't be enlarged, didn't quite look like Wildcats.......
On another thread it looks like the Utah boys have something up their sleeve(s) w/Berger 168s and 180s at a decent velocity.

I have some Berger bullets loaded with Retumbo that I've been waiting to ty out. I got 70 gr of retumbo meassured out and loaded into the cases and attempted to seat the bullet. 70 grains of retumbo is a compressed load so I thought it would be a tight fit. Unfortunatly I could not get the bullet to a length where it would cycle through the action. So rather than really push it (and the powder) I decided to pull it and start over with H4350.
So there were no problems with it seating since it was only 56.5 grains of powder but I did have to push the overall lenght back to 2.77 to get it to cycle through. So now to get out and shoot them.
Here are some pics. I forgot the length and weight data at the reloading shack so I'll post that up later but I did remember to bring my camera home.

All loaded up and ready to scoot down the tube.

Time to revive this thread as I have looked at the Matrix website and see that they have a 210grain .308 VLD with a BC of .752 Would be great to have any additional information.
roundss...any shooting results to report?
Any others with experiences they're willing to share?
