NEW Zeiss 8x26 Victory Rangefinder

I'm talking about the monocular version. Has anyone used one?

How do they compare to the Swaro? I've read where someone said it was better but didn't give specifics. I'm just about to buy the Swaro but if the new Zeiss ranges farther I'd rather get it instead.

I took one out side a sports store in Bufflao Wy and shot it down the street. It is lightning fast, but there was nothing far enough to tell anything about range. I have a friend that bought one also. He has ranged goats to 7 or 800 mid day I think. I doubt it will out range the Swaro but I really can't say. I have a swaro now and I may be going back to the Leica. I have had a few issues with the large beam and the large reticle circle on my Swaro. I guess you really have to pick one for your personal needs. They all have weak and strong points.

Have you tried the Newcon 2500 or 3500 range finder? I spoke with Joe Starns awhile back and he suggested I try his "3500" when I pick up my rifles. I guess he has a friend that bought the Swaro's and after a comparision with the Newcon, he sold the Swaro's and bought a Newcon.

I still have a couple months to decide. I would love to see the new Zeiss do the job!

Tha newcons definatly go the distance. But they are bigger and the glass quality is not the best. The 3500 is a bit pricey too. I don't know, but I sure would like to spend a day in the field with a Leica, zeiss and my Swaro. I think that is the only way I would know which one is for me.

I read somewhere that the new Zeiss has the smallest beam compared to Swaro andLeica. Maybe that's what you're looking for? I should be able to get my hands on one this weekend and compare it directly to the Swaro. I'll report back.

I tried the newcon and it sucks! I tried pretty much everything and finally stepped up and bought the swaro.

I got my hands on both of them for a few minutes in the parking lot at Scheels in Sparks, NV. Wish I had more time with them but based on those few minutes, I'm leaning towards the Zeiss.

The Zeiss reads faster. The numbers where by far easier to read and the glass seemed brighter with better contrast. I also liked the target better in the Zeiss. It was a cross hair compared to a "O" shape. Plus the Zeiss costs less.

This comparison was a bit frustrating because the objects to range from the parking lot where a bit limited so I wasn't able to determine which one ranged the farthest. This is really what I wanted to know. A storm was breaking and there was a little bit of snow still coming down with the sun shining through intermittently. With these conditions the farthest either would range was 1403 yards on the same storage elevator.

The Scheels salesman was pushing the Swaro and said that if I bought it and didn't like it I could return it and get the Zeiss. After trying both of them I'm seriously thinking of doing the opposite - get the Zeiss and take it back for the Swaro if I don't like it.

anybody else have any field time with one of these, I'm in the need of a new rangefinder and am interested in this, good price, just wanted to see how it compared to Leica and swaro. In was hoping the quality and function would be between leica and swaro. I figured maybe some of the optics suppliers got to do some testing,

The owner of the my local gun shop is going to order a few once he becomes a Zeiss dealer. He's going to let me try it out. He said it might be a few weeks. I'll let you know more once this happens.

I've seen them for 650, just real curious about it, always thought zeiss glass was good. Just wanted to see how the laser worked, if it did close to what they advertise.
