Barrel length vs. velocity with a 300 mag?

I currently have a Remington 700 with a 26" Hart barrrel chambered in 30 Hart(basically an improved 300 weatherby) shooting a 210 Berger at 2950 fps. I wanted to get some more velocity and was thinking about rebarreling and rechambering. How much velocity could I expect with a 300 RUM out of a 30" barrel with 210 bergers? Would it be worth it?

I've got a 300 Jarrett, must be about the same as your 30 Hart.

I think 3300 would require a lot of psi, too much for me.

In other words, I don't think it would be worth the trouble and expense.

What I'm thinking about is not more velocity but more bullet.
There are some new bullets, as yet unproven, that may have
a bc near 0.9, maybe even more. That will get you a lot further
than an extra couple hundred fps. Compare a 220 gn with 0.9 bc
at 3000 fps to the 210 Berger at 3150 or even 3400 and see how
they compare. I'll take the high bc any day.

Of course the 210 Berger is here, the 220 HAT is not.

How far and what exactly are you trying to shoot? Lets just say for comparison that you trust that bullet down to 1500fps for elk and that the RUM will shoot it at 3300fps. Depending on atmospheric conditions that puts you somewhere around 1400 yards for your current setup vs 1650 yards for the RUM. The question is, is the extra 250 yards really worth it?
