30 cal 200gr. Accubond

I have been trying to load up some 200 gr. accubonds for my 300wsm. I am using 60gr. of H4350 seated about .05 off the lands. They show real good accuracy around 1/4 MOA for 3 shots but then i will get one that flys off about an inch. I cant really understand what is happening but i have been having a problem with the tips of the accubonds breaking off. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions to getting rid of that flyer?

You mean the plastic tips are breaking off? When? Under recoil in the magazine? While reloading, seating the bullets, or simply handling them? I've handled a lot of BTs and Accubonds and never had the tips break off.

well when i opened the box 2 tips had simply broken off. and while reloading them i had no problems but just handling the rounds they seem to break off really easy. I could see them possibly breaking off while chambering the round causing poor accuracy.

Perhaps you got a bad box that never got caught going through QC . I have loaded and shot quite a few 200 Abonds and never experienced the problem you are having. Perhaps you could try purchasing a different box with a different lot number to see if the problem you are having repeats itself.

I usually only shoot three shot groups now. I used to shoot 5 shot groups but with a thin contoured barrel, the groups will generally open up when the thinner barrels start to heat up. Three shot groups will tell you enough about how well your rifle is shooting, and for purposes of hunting, the animal will hopefully be down before you have to shoot three shots anyhow.

Not sure if this helps you or not. But my groups open up after three shots also with my lightweight hunting rigs. If you're grouping good for the first three shots then I'd say you're in pretty good shape.

If that's the case then cool. But, with over 13,000 members you're evidently the only one that knew about the "buddy" thing. Most guys will use an abundance of smileys etc. when messing or joking around. Carry on and sorry if your typed word was mis-interpreted.

What kind of bullet seating die are you using? You may want to take a look at it and see if the tip of the bullet is "bottoming out" and the tip is getting trashed every time you seat one. I've used Accubonds quite a bit in a heavy recoiling rifle and never had a problem with them breaking off. Good luck.

seating die seems to be fine, i think i just got a bad box of bullets because i can take them right out of the box and apply a small amount of pressure to the tip and it just snaps right off. Emailed nosler to see what they think maybe get a box free.
