Selling and buying firearms

I wanted to know what are the laws as far as individuals go when it comes to selling, buying and shipping firearms to someone through the mail. Can an individuals buy, sell and ship firearms legally without being conducted through a FFL holder? How and where could a person get a copy of these laws?

You can go to the ATF web site. You can get info there. You can also get the number to your local office and just call them and ask them. I have done that defore. The laws are so strict it is better to get info from them.

The safest way (but not necessarily the cheapest) is to do it all through a local FFL.

I have sold several firearms on a face-to-face basis in texas, but they have liberal teransfer rules in texas involving gun shows.

Since state laws vary so much, you need to figure out the local and state rules before you do anything.

Thanks for the info guys. I went to the ATF web site and the best I can figure is that as long as I ship within my own state there is no need for a FFL holder. But if I ship outside of my own state then I have to ship the firearm to a FFL holder in the state that I am shipping to. Does this sound correct?
