I wrote Berger to find out any new information on availability and twist.
Eric Stecker wrote back ( in less than 10 minutes I might add ) :

"We have a lot of work to do before the 338 cal bullets are completed. I estimate that this will be completed in the summer of 2009. Understand that I also estimated we would be done by Sept. 08.

All the 338 cal bullets were designed to work in a 10" twist. Once the bullets are physically made we will know for sure but for now a 10" is my best recommendation."

I guess there is no need to sit on the edge of my chair waiting :)

Nope; it was a 300 grain Lapua Scenar. :)

I'm a bit skeptical that you can get a 338 bullet that will stabalize with a 10 twist barrel to have a BC of .900,or better, but I would love for it to be true, as I would buy a ton of them and shoot them until I burn out several barrels in my 338 LM Improved.

Good point...but like you, I hope it's true. We'll see.

By the way, I sent Hornady an email a few minutes before I sent the one to Berger.
Eric replied in about 10 minutes ( I was not in my office the whole time so it could have been sooner ), but I am still waiting for a reply from Hornady on their A-Max!

I am not complaining about Hornady CS, but Berger was exceptional :)

I just heard from Hornady and this was their reply:

I am not aware of any 300 gr. bullet for the .338 We have heardthis rumor in the past, but nothing has been released. Thanks
