Yes We Can . . . Ban Guns"--Obama Announces Gun Ban Agenda Before The Final Vote Count Is In Friday, November 07, 2008 Senator Barack Obama's presidential campaign slogan, "the audacity of hope," should have instead been "the audacity of deceit." After months of telling the American people that he supports the Second Amendment, and only hours after being declared the president-elect, the Obama transition team website announced an agenda taken straight from the anti-gun lobby--four initiatives designed to ban guns and drive law-abiding firearm manufacturers and dealers out of business:
"Making the expired federal assault weapons ban permanent." Perhaps no other firearm issue has been more dishonestly portrayed by gun prohibitionists. Notwithstanding their predictions that the ban's expiration in 2004 would bring about the end of civilization, for the last four years the nation's murder rate has been lower than anytime since the mid-1960s. Studies for Congress, the Congressional Research Service, the National Institute of Justice, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found no evidence that gun prohibition or gun control reduces crime. Guns that were affected by the ban are used in only a tiny fraction of violent crime-about 35 times as many people are murdered without any sort of firearm (knives, bare hands, etc.), as with "assault weapons." Obama says that "assault weapons" are machine guns that "belong on foreign battlefields," but that is a lie; the guns are only semi-automatic, and they are not used by a military force anywhere on the planet.
"Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment." The amendment--endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police--prohibits the release of federal firearm tracing information to anyone other than a law enforcement agency conducting a bona fide criminal investigation. Anti-gun activists oppose the restriction, because it prevents them from obtaining tracing information and using it in frivolous lawsuits against law-abiding firearm manufacturers. Their lawsuits seek to obtain huge financial judgments against firearm manufacturers when a criminal uses a gun to inflict harm, even though the manufacturers have complied with all applicable laws.
"Closing the gun show loophole." There is no "loophole." Under federal law, a firearm dealer must conduct a background check on anyone to whom he sells a gun, regardless of where the sale takes place. A person who is not a dealer may sell a gun from his personal collection without conducting a check. Gun prohibitionists claim that many criminals obtain guns from gun shows, though the most recent federal survey of convicted felons put the figure at only 0.7 percent. They also claim that non-dealers should be required to conduct checks when selling guns at shows, but the legislation they support goes far beyond imposing that lone requirement. In fact, anti-gun members of Congress voted against that limited measure, holding out for a broader bill intended to drive shows out of business.
"Making guns in this country childproof." "Childproof" is a codeword for a variety of schemes designed to prevent the sale of firearms by imposing impossible or highly expensive design requirements, such as biometric shooter-identification systems. While no one opposes keeping children safe, the fact is that accidental firearm-related deaths among children have decreased 86 percent since 1975, even as the numbers of children and guns have risen dramatically. Today, the chances of a child being killed in a firearm accident are less than one in a million.

If that's what he calls "supporting the 2nd amendment", I can't wait for his version of "fixing the economy".

No surprise here, this is just the beginning. All the morons that voted him in are going to get their "change".
WE NEED TO GET PELOSI AND FRIENDS OUT IN 2 YRS!!!

I searched on the transition team website and couldn't find any mention of the gun/weapon bans.

If anyone else can find it, please post a link.

Thanks,
AJ

Most of us on this forum have patriotic sentiments for our freedom, capitalist philosophy and respect for our constitution. It is my hope we can combine our energies to form a formidable vote in the upcoming senate elections of Nov. 2, 2010 and the presidential election of 2012. I agree with Michael Reagan, son of the late President Ronald Reagan, in the failures of the Republican Party "leaders" culminating in the betrayal of our conservative values and in the election of a gun-hating, liberal, socialist president who is undeserving of such a sacred office. I can only imagine Obama's terrorist friends and anti-American racist preacher celebrating not only his leftist propaganda driven victory but also the disgraceful duping of America. Have you noticed the liberal (mainstream) media is still "campaigning" for Obama? They will continue this unprecedented media bias for the next four years!

All conservative Americans can fight back by getting on the same page and working on our resurgence. In addition to keeping a fantastic forum such as longrangehunting.com busy with crucial information about friends and foes of the Second Amendment we can also research sites such as reaganaction.com and conservative.org to provide more ammunition for our cause. For some of us this is a just a start but nonetheless a good beginning. Remember, the deceitful liberal media ran a steam roller over us. They were very effective in convincing the uninformed to vote for the antithesis of American values, Obama. As such we must not allow further breakdown of our fundamental American values. When socialist liberalism becomes the unequivocal majority vote we are looking at the beginning of the end of the United States as our founders had intended it to be. May God save our Country.

/\ /\ We'll see how long the websites you listed stay up. I figure "politically incorrect" websites and forums will be the first to go of our first amendment. Unless, they want to use them to get a list of names of people to watch. And don't say it can't happen, ask the NRA about having their first amendment violated.

AJ, appears the Fuhrer's staff already changed his website. Must have been getting too much attention.

The left wing media attempted coercive censorship on Joe the Plumber. He actually had the audacity to question his majesty. How dare he? The fallout was childish ridicule by Obama, Biden and their subjects. They punished Joe the Plumber by letting the liberal histrionic media run circles around him. His taxation history was even investigated. This is the respect the Obama presidency will show the American People's First Amendment right? Did Obama and Biden apologize for their behavior? Did they call off the left wing hypocrites? No and no; this is but a small sample of the degenerate values the former Democratic candidates exuded. I talked with Democratic voters about Joe the Plumber's plight but most seemed unaffected and merely expressed their love for Obama even though they new nothing about him. My hat is off to Joe the Plumber as he did not abate. So, careful about asking any "unfair' questions of the king, somebody may be listening.

What about the Fairness Doctrine? Do you think for one minute that if the talk-radio success was reversed and the left wingers were on top of the game they would clamor to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine? Pelosi can't wait to bring it back to hamper, if not silence, the extraordinarily successful right wing talk-radio. There is nothing fair about the Fairness Doctrine, it is antiquated and walks the slippery slope of censorship. It is entertaining how the left claims a want to unite the nation; it is more like divide and conquer.

I am not from the U.S, but share your feelings for this. Our gun law changed in South Africa, which meant you can only own a total of 5 guns which is broken down into 3 rifles, 1 shotgun, and 1 gun for self defense. You can owe more if you are a registered hunter or collector. This was because gun crime is very high.

Crime has gone up and legal firearm holders lost a lot of guns. An amnesty period was provided to hand in unwanted guns. Some of these guns were destroyed and a lot are unaccounted for. A police station was robbed the other day and 108 hand guns were stolen and some rifles:mad:.

When they demand our ammunition it will come back to the Government Officials one bullet at a time!

Joe the plumber is just one example of the new real freedom of speech. Don't be surprised if these boards are used to track gun enthusiasts. As far as gun rights go, we need the NRA now more than ever!

Tough times are coming!

Have you any brains? You just advocated assasinations? Now if the FBI investgated you for making those kind of remarks in a public forum I bet you would say they violated your right to free speech? You truly are a pathetic person.

Avalancher, they will not post a link because there is no link. They are just ranting about BS that is not even true.

How can we defend our gun rights if we are crying wolf over stuff that is not true.
