i have leica geovids and spotting scope, when i bought mine i took them both out and did glassing in low light and bright light. both glass perfpormed equal. IMO they are the 2 best glass in the world. my final decision was becase with the geovids i could look at my target through my binos and if i wanted to know the range i wouldne have to put down binos and pull out range finder and the switch again, you wont be disipointed...

I have had a couple of Leica's and did not like their performance. A buddy of mine let me try the swarovski and I got rid of both my Leica's. Their performance was not even close to the swarovki's! The extra money was well worth it for me. I have no trouble ranging past 1000 yards with the swarovski.
Just got my Leica 1200 crf and I like it for my inteded use. I can range deer at @700 almost anytime and it will definately range better when the sun isn't shining bright. I ranged tree lines at 1350 befor the sun really peaked over the horizon.
If I would do it over again, I'd really consider spending another 300 for the Swaro. I have never really used one, but from what I have read and heard, the swaro will range much much better than the leica in bright sun! The Nikon is cheaper and also ranges pretty comparably to the leica, but it has very poor low light optic quality compared to the leica or the swaro.

There is really no comparison. I've had both. Kept the Swaro and sold the Leica 1200.
The Leica would range out to about 1100 yds.
The Swaro will get out to about 1700 yds more reliably than the Leica gets out to 1100 yds.
Better glass in the Swaro also. I often use my Swaro as a monocular for spotting game when I don't want to pack the extra weight or bulk of binoculars.
By the way, both the Swaro and the Leica 1200 are better than a Bushnell 1500 Arc RF, based on my first hand experience.
Thanks for the tip on the Newcon. Glad I passed and didn't waste time and money on one. I had given them serious consideration at one time, until I looked them over at Shot Show 2007 in Orlando. Like looking through Coke bottle bottoms compared to the Swaro.

I made that same decision earlier this year (Leica vs. Swarovski) and went with the Swarovski. 10x40 SLC and the rangefinder. The rangefinder works better than expected, Mid September noon sun @ 8500 feet it would range 1,000 Yds on a small pine tree consistently. Towards dusk on 2 different days I ranged a small pine tree at the end of the basin that I was watching. Both days with the tree in shadows, about 1 hr. before sunset it said 1902 Yds. That's consistency. I couldn't find anything farther away to range - that tree was on the ridge of the basin. That's holding it in my hands. It will range further (any type of light) when on a tripod than when holding it in your hands. My cousin has the 10x40 EL's and I couldn't tell the difference in the optics between the EL's and the SLC's looking thru them side-by-side.

I guess that I am pretty much in the same boat as britz. Like the Lieca, if I do it agan I will get the swaro
I owned both the Leica and Swarovski laser range finders and for the long range enthusist the Swaro is the clear winner and it's not even close IMHO. In the bright desert sunn the Leica would not consistently range past 600 yards while the Swaro have no trouble going to 1,000 plus yards and in goodighting conditions the Swaro does 1900 plus. I have ranged Elk with the Swaro to 1800 plus yards and the glass is better in the Swaro, but for binoclars I';ll take Leica 24-7

I just got a pair of swa 15x56 binos. i went in thinking i was going to buy the leica 15x56 geovids but after looking in both of them side by side the swa where way brighter and 899.00 cheaper. i all ready had the swa laser guide for my range finder and loved it. but i wanted a back up. after i got to thinking about it if the range finder in the geovids was to break you would be with out both your binos and range finder at the same time. so with the money i saved buying the swa 15x56 for 1999.00 i got another swa laser guide for a back up. and after my antelope hunt i would pay 3000.00 for them if that's what they cost. by for my best money i have ever spent on glass
