Grizzly vs. Bow

I don't believe any of it. Not a word! It's a crock of s#$%!!!!!!!!!!!!! No way to outrun a charging grizz. 500 lb. bear scratches his head? Hit a grizz and killed it with one arrow. Please!

I can't figure out of he's being sarcastic or not lol

Apparently you've never seen people hunt grizzlies with a bow. Happens all the time. I wouldn't do it but it happens.

Hunt! Absolutely! Howard Hill hunted elephants with a long bow.

Outrun a charging grizz? Hit a charging grizz? One shot kill? Get mauled and have a scratch? Literally? By a 500 lb. bear.

I don't believe it!

Sounds true to me. The bear ran him down twice and it seems like he had the injuries to prove it. An arrow in the right place is just as deadly as any high power rifle. A bear at close range even moving isn't that hard to hit. You just have to have the right angle. On a charging bear you don't have a good shot. But on one running by chasing the son, you will get a good angle.

I once shot a deer at about 3ft running right in front of me. Shot him from the hip with a shotgun slug. Couldn't shoot after he pasted by because there was a line of hunters on each side. So dropped him with a shot from the hip. I was 16. And that's the honest truth. If I could do that at 16, the 62 yr old Dad could make the shot he claimed.

You're kidding right? Have you ever seen what a grizz does to someone? They don't get a scratch over the eye . In mild cases they get scalped. In slightly worse situations they get some pretty serious facial disfigurement.

Grizzlies are faster than a Thorough Bred Race Horse. The bear was right behind him and he got up and ran. From an animal that can accelerate to 35mph. in 25 ft.
They claim the arrow went flying by his legs. He shot a charging bear. ?

Wlfdg:

The deer I shot at ~3ft was running pretty damm fast too. I didn't even
have time to raise my gun as he jumped out of his bed about 20ft to my
right. But at 16 I had time to think that my only safe shot was straight
ahead. Got the safety off and squeezed the trigger all in two seconds
or less.

I don't know whether this story is true or not. Don't even care.
So you feel free to believe what you want. Have a good day and remember the R in BRASS.

:D It's B R A S. I added the ADJUST for my own sake. I am relaxed ;).

The whole thing sounds rather fishy to me. Starting with a man who who hunts in grizz country running from a bear. First and major mistake.

And yes I have had close encounters with grizzlies.

None of it adds up for me having had so much interaction with these animals.
I've seen grizzlies do amazing things! Unimaginable power and speed.

That's all.

Come on linksmechanic you live with these animals too. You know what they are easily capable of.

I hate to think what I "think happened".

I've had grizzlies come in twice this season while cow/calf calling for black bear. Once while calling 'yotes with snowshoe hare distress. A bowhunter here had a grizz come in while calling elk. It was within 30 yds. of him.

Any of them could have been easily shot.

Actually I'm just giving you crap. It was fun while it lasted but I have a hard time with an arrow killing a grizz also. Anyways cheers and long live Idaho.
