I know everyone has a different opinion on the war and our current President. But, this article makes a lot of sense; take 2 minutes. Read it and give it some thought.

When electing the next President, "the only decision you have to make is who you want sitting in that seat in the White House when (not if) WHEN we get hit again and millions of American lives are put at risk!"

This is from: "You Ain't Gonna Like Losing."
Author unknown.

President Bush did make a bad mistake in the war on terrorism. But the mistake was not his decision to go to war in Iraq. Bush's mistake came in his belief that this country is the same one his father fought for in WWII. It is not.

Back then, they had just come out of a vicious depression. The country was steeled by the hardship of that depression, but they still believed fervently in this country. They knew that the people had elected their leaders, so it was the people's duty to back those leaders.
Therefore, when the war broke out the people came together, rallied behind, and stuck with their leaders, whether they had voted for them or not or whether the war was going badly or not.
War was just as distasteful and the anguish just as great then as it is today. Often there were more casualties in one day in WWII than we have had in the entire Iraq war. But that did not matter. The people stuck with the President because it was their patriotic duty. Americans put aside their differences in WWII and worked together to win that war.
Everyone from every strata of society, from young to old pitched in. Small children pulled little wagons around to gather scrap metal for the war effort. Grade school students saved their pennies to buy stamps for war bonds to help the effort. Men who were too old or medically 4F lied about their age or condition trying their best to join the military. Women doubled their work to keep things going at home. Harsh rationing of everything from gasoline to soap, to butter was imposed, yet there was very little complaining.
You never heard prominent people on the radio belittling the President. Interestingly enough in those days there were no fat cat actors and entertainers who ran off to visit and fawn over dictators of hostile countries and complain to them about our President. Instead, they made upbeat films and entertained our troops to help the troops' morale. A bunch even enlisted.

Imagine this: Teachers in schools actually started the day off with a Pledge of Allegiance and with prayers for our country and our troops!
Back then, no newspaper would have dared point out certain weak spots in our cities where bombs could be set off to cause the maximum damage. No newspaper would have dared complain about what we were doing to catch spies. A newspaper would have been laughed out of existence if it had complained that German or Japanese soldiers were being 'tortured' by being forced to wear women's underwear or subjected to interrogation by a woman or being scared by a dog or did not have air conditioning.
There were a lot of things different back then. We were not subjected to a constant bombardment of pornography, perversion and promiscuity in movies or on radio. We did not have legions of crack heads, dope pushers and armed gangs roaming our streets.

No, President Bush did not make a mistake in his handling of terrorism. He made the mistake of believing that we still had the courage and fortitude of our fathers. He believed that this was still the country that our fathers fought so dearly to preserve.
It is not the same country. We did unite for a short while after 9/11, but our attitude changed when we found out that defending our country would require some sacrifices.

We are in great danger. The terrorists are fanatic Muslims. Th ey believe that it is okay, even their duty, to kill anyone who will not convert to Islam. It has been estimated that about one third or over three hundred million Muslims are sympathetic to the terrorists cause... Hitler and Tojo combined did not have nearly that many potential recruits. So... we either win it - or lose it - and you ain't gonna like losing.

America is not at war. The military is at war. America is at the mall, or watching the movie stars.

(Remember Obama said in his book "Audacity of Hope", 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction'.....what better place for the Muslims to control our country, than in the office of the President of USA .

Thats a scary thought!

Whats even more scary is that it seems the American people can't wait to elect Obama to the highest seat in the country. If this actually happens he'll drag this country down so low it won't be fit to live in. God help us all.

I agree that we need to go after the terrorists and it ****es me off that if I book an airline ticket last minute I get "additional screening" at the airport security. Last week I watched an old lady in a wheelchair being force to stand to get searched. Made me sick. Its crazy that we can profile potential drug mules but not terroists because we may "offend" somebody.

But, lets face facts. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

Tell me one terrorist act commited by Iraq???

Sure Sadam was a brutal dictator, but he was neither a terrorist or a threat to us. He had nothing to do with 9/11 - plain and simple. There are plenty of other brutal dictators but we didn't invade them.

Comparing Iraq to WWII is ridiculous. It is as ridiculous as any liberal propaganda.

I wish there was a "no propaganda" party.

If McCain loses it will be because of the Bush fiasco.

Can anyone deny that Bush dropped the ball going after Bin Laden?
Seven years later and no Bin Laden.

How did we fight terrorism by going into Iraq?

I will vote for McCain because Obama is obviously the wrong guy with the wrong ideas. But...it bothers me when quotes of either candidate are passed along on the internet and are just inaccurate or way out of context.

I read the entire passage from the book. What Obama was saying is that if innocent American Muslims are persecuted here just for being Muslim he will side with them to assure they retain basic American rights. The context was about what happened in this country to thousands of Japanese who were interned during the second world war.

His comment, taken in context, had nothing negative in it that would justify passing on this quote.

McCain and Palin will back-up the Second Amendment and they will get my vote as well. I agree the truth and objectivity about both candidates should be sought. No need to spin their words since the truth is actually clearly more telling and provocative. Obama's socialist sentiments, his cut-throat rise into politics and radical associates should be enough to question his patriotism and honesty. In the practical sense it is not Obama who should be feared, it's the citizens who will turn away from the truth, believe the leftist media propaganda and elect him into power.

It so annoying and igonrant to this that every democrat is a Communist as it is to think every republican is a facist.

Clearly the american people want more moderate candidates. I don't buy into this fear of losing our guns so I should vote for some a$$hole. Clinton didn't take away our guns in 8 years in office. I don't mind filling out the yellow sheet. I don't think that we should be able to just walk into a store a buy a gun with no questions asked. I don't want felons to have guns.

Bush couldn't give a crap about anyone on this forum or your guns. If you believe otherwise you a fool.

And your a fool if you compare Iraq to WWII.

Why won't anyone admit that Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and was not a terrorist threat.

Will any of you admit that Obama is right that Bush should have pressed harder to go into Afganastan and get Bin Laden?

I'm not asking you to vote for him, but admit he is right.

I live in NY. I'm less than 50 miles from ground zero.
I saw the smoke and smelled the smell of buring buildings and bodies. I've seen the Ice rinks turned into mourges because they were the only places cold enough.

McCain needs to come clean about the mistake of going into Iraq and tell American that we screwed up. Both Reps and Dems voted for the war republicans were not alone. Everyone believed that they had WMD's.

Tell the people that we are there now and we need to win. Pretty simple. Stop denying that it is was a mistake going in. Obama would make a bad mistake to pull out now and McCain would finish the job. But, he needs to tell the truth.

Bin Laden should have been gotten at all cost!!!! BUT that dont make Obama a presidentual candidate and neither does anything else he has done or said!! Civil war is not something I'm looking forward to but I just dont see rural america putting up with the likes of Obama.

That all I'm saying - Bin Laden should have been gotten at all costs. I never said anything about Obama being a presidential candidate. McCain needs to say it to or he doesn't have a chance. Unfortunately he probably doesn't anyway.

Too bad because I've been waiting for McCain since 2000. He would be an awesome president.
