Good Longe Range Sling

Not all shots can be off a bi-pod...and thus I am wondering if anyone knows "the best" type of rifle sling for long range shooting?

Tactical interventionist sells several slings with an arm cuff...
Is there a relevant advantage of this style when compared with the conventional military style sling?

What is a top notch rifle sling / company?

I have 2 Tactical Intervention Slings (TIS) and use and like them, also going to get another one.

They aren't a hunting sling, something that can be hooked up quickly, but for a long range target sling they are the cat's meow.

For hunting I use Shooter's Connection.

Thanks for your response. I should have clarified that I am going to be using the sling primarily for hunting, but also at the range at distances from 100-400 yards.

I have an Armalite AR 30 in .338 lapua. I keep a Harris bipod on it, and have used it to take a cow elk from sitting position at 465 yards. I have also made 100 yard ofhand shot on elk. The weight helps it hold steady. However, I would not plan on much longer shots from standing position... that is just me. Critters far away (250 +) hopefully will give me time to sit and set up my bipod.

I have really loved the older Uncle Mike's Military Slings. Uncle Mike's stuff is somehow connected to Butler Creek now and I've been told the leather SUCKS. Natchez has one by Boyts on sale right now for $20 and they're quality.

The other one that I have yet to use but that gets really high marks from people I've talked with is Brownell's Latigo sling. I just added a lovely little Mexican small ring in 7x57 to my gun cabinet and she screams for one of these. I'm going to spoil her with it and I'll let you know how it works out... how she likes it, if you will .

When in the field for LRH, do y'all use a sling AND a bipod? I read Col. Whelen's book and he suggests using a sling in prone, but I'm curious whether y'all use one w/ bipod?

Uncle Mike's and Butler Creek both now belong to Bushnell and, yes, the leather sucks, as do most of the products from the two companies since they moved production overseas.

Turner Saddlery makes a very good military-style sling. I've used it and the new Tactical Intervention sling extensively. Love 'em both.

Here's the Turner on my Rem 700:

That's a well-worn sling with years of use behind it. Mine is simply leather, but they also make some that are of a synthetic material, weatherproof.

Mike at T.I.S. builds one heck of a sling if you want that kind. Both work very well.

I use a 1.25" standard military sling I got from Cabela's on my 12# long range Model 70.

I think you have some wires crossed here...

you will want to use SHOOTING STYX when hunting and a SLING when target shooting offhand...

you will not be able to get a hi power scope to hold still using a sling for long distance hunting... watch the snipers.. they always use a rest...and a sling sometimes..

Dog, I was a sniper. I am a competitive shooter and I am a hunter. I use a sling for many shots hunting and the sling is used in combat alot more than you think. I have had a bunch of returning snipers tell me how much they used my slings in combat because they just could not get a bipod position to shoot back, Sometimes terrain dictates what position you will shoot from. The Quick Cuff shooter can go from standing unslung to seated or prone sling shooting in less than five seconds, making the hit
