Nightforce Zero Stops on 8-32?

Can someone tell me why Nightforce does not put zero stops on there 8-32 models?

I am looking to move up from an 8.5-25 vx-iii and would like to have the stops. For those that have or have had the 5.5-22 and 8-32, do you prefer one over the other? Is the 8-32 too much scope for normal hunting/long range situations? I see some guys looking to trade up to the 32X from the 22X, and I only want to do this once.

i too would like to know that, I wanted to buy a 8X32 with the stop also but wanst sure why they dont offer it? and also is 22 enough when shooting 750+ at whitetail size targets and 1000+ at steel gongs?

Most likely they do not do it make one for the 8-32x because the Military does not order this scope and the Military requested a 0-stop on the other scopes. Also they would have to engineer a 0-Stop turret for the 32x.

I will call NF to see.

Also we have the 8-32x56mm in stock with the NPR1 reticle.

I prefer the 50mm to the 56mm. If you go with the 56mm you need to go with the 1.125" center height rings 1" if you have a standard varmint barrel contour. Also you do not get the much of an advantage more of and advantage in lowlight environments.

That is one of my concerns is the advantage of gathering more light both early and late in the day. I can adjust the comb up, so sitting the scope in higher rings would not be a problem.

Here is some info for you.

The average size of a human's eye pupil at night is 7 mm and in daylight it is about 4mm on average. If the optic give you a 7mm of exit pupil and you are using it for day use more than half the light will not reach the retina. I have also noticed if you are getting too much light and you look away you see light spots were ever you look and the targets look washedout. On a lot of my scopes I use a light reducer so I do not get the light spots and the washout is not there.

Size of bell divided by magnification = exitpupil. Hare are some examples.
56/22x=2.54mm
56/5.5x=10.18mm
50/22x=2.27mm
50/5.5x=9.09mm
The sweet spots for the 56 and the 50mm at Night and Day use.
50/7.14x = 7mm night use and for day use 50/12.5x = 4mm
56/8x = 7mm night use and for day use 56/14x = 4mm
You are really not getting much advantage over the 50mm. I feel there is a bigger disadvantage and that is you have to go with tall rings 1.00" at the low to 1.25" were the 50mm you can do 0.885".

When you go to an 8-32x you can see why they go with the 56mm.

22x is more than enough scope for 750+ yard whitetails. Even the smaller more camoflauged version in the west (coues deer).

I have used NF 22x extensively. I have also used the 40x. I liked the 22 much better. Less mirage and other visibility issues. A deer at 1K on 22x looks huge as it is.

Currently I am using the NXS 3.5-15x50 even for my longest range rifle. 15 for me is plenty out to 1K.

My 308 sports a 10x (Mark 4). 10x for me is plenty out to 750 yards on deer size game and works so so at 1K but is pushing it. However shots out to 750 yards is about all I will ever ask my 308 to do.

Mike, FWIW the .885's work just fine on a 20 moa Badger base, 700 action over a #7 Lilja taper with the 56mm scope, though it doesn't leave room for caps but that does not concern me.

yes a 56mm NF. I even have .05" or so to spare. I wanted it mounted low and that is exactly what I got.

As a side note the texture on the power ring is closer to hitting the base than the bell is hitting the barrel.

No, I was trying to say there is more space between the objective and the barrel than between the power ring and the scope base.
