Thought I would post a pic of a group I shot tonite with my 338 EDGE. I know this won't seem that impressive to you seasoned long range shooters, but for a guy that just started shooting and reloading in Jan.08, I am very pleased. I have put in the time and work, and have learned a great deal from this website. Couldn't help doing a little " braggin"

Awesome group!! Chit I'd be very happy with that any day of the week and I've been loading for 10 years.

My 338 EDGE hasn't shot any groups that good, yet anyways...

My load is 92 gr H-1000 with bullet @ .070 off the lands, so it will fit in the magbox. Running about 2800fps. Just started doing ballistic validation with Exbal. Don't know how to use a PDA yet, but that will be a winter project. The barrel is a Rock Creek 30", 1:9.3 twist. non-fluted, Sendero contour.

Two years ago when I saw a group like that I always thought yea right. Now everytime I see a group like that or shoot one I just say hell yea Great shooting......guess your about ready for hunting season.

I am using Federal GM 215 primers. I don't know what the velocity spread is, or what other measurements you guys use for load developement. Still have alot to learn, put I know it shoots good. I did most of my load developement at 300 yards. I think the 338 EDGE is an inherently accurate caliber, and easy to reload for. It has been much easier to develope a load for than my 25-06, 30-06, and 7 STW.

I am using the same load, 92g H-1000, but with the recomended CCI 250 primer (per Mr. Carlock.) My barrel is a 28" HART stainless/fluted 10", #5 contour I believe. I am getting 2840fps from the 300g SMK. Haven't done a lot of paper shooting with it since load development at 100 yards, just steel.

Load development was short and sweet for me as well, loaded up 4 each at 92g and 93g H-1000, and they both shot equally good 1/2 MOA, but 92g had the better ES so I went with it. Been slapping steel out to 1K since!!

mate i would be very happy with that shooting. id be stocked if i could do those groups at 400 with the .308. i have a lot of practice to do. or redo my load development and see if i can improve it. cheers for sharing something to aim towards

I am absolutely ready for hunting season. Its a real confidence builder to shoot like that at those distances. Only the second time I have shot that far.

The rifle was built by a local gunsmith, however, alot of credit must go to guys like Shawn Carlock for sharing this caliber with everyone. Also, this website has been a goldmine of imformation for a bigginner like myself if you are willing to put in the time to read and research matters.

This rifle was actually recently listed in the classifieds for sale as "another 338 EDGE ". No one seemed interested. I was selling it to try and afford another custom build project that I wanted to do, and had to put on hold.

very impressive Jim, now you know those soda cans at 500 are doable! you'll have to convince that outfitter that you might shoot at elk farther than 250. he told me he didn't like people to shoot farther than that.
