I just finished up my personal long range hunting rifle and would like to report my findings and my excitement. First of all I will list the components used.

Phoenix machine long action, target port, heavy Remington Tang with a long thread tenon set up for a top safety. (Very happy with the Phoenix receivers) receiver is cut with a narrow opening in the bottom of the receiver
strictly for use with center feed mags.

PTG bolt with a cone bolt face, helical fluted by SSG and bolt knob by SSG.

Recoil lug has lug on top of receiver as well, made by Seekins also Seekins 20 MOA base which keys into lug.

BRUX four groove, 8.6 twist, 28" finish length with interrupted flutes by Brux. Sendero contour chambered in 7MM-300WSM by SSG.

10 degree "V" port brake by SSG.

Metal finish dark earth tan by SSG

McMillan A-5 with Karsten cheek piece and camo job by SSG.

Rifle Basix trigger and kwik klip detachable mag system with 3&7 round magazines.

Chamber is cut with 200 free bore for 168 Berger's and 180 Berger's.

Reloading dies Redding .270 WSM type S unaltered with .312 neck bushing.
Forrester 7mmwsm seating die. slightly altered for the shorter case body.

Load... Norma .270 bass necked up, Federal .210 primers 68.2 grains of H-1000, 180 Berger's .002 off the lands, muzzle velocity 3010 FPS. loaded one case 10 times would easily go another 5, primer pocket just slightly looser than new. E.S for 5 rounds 6 FPS. accuracy at 100yds easily 1/4MOA for 5 shots.
I did a little shooting at 1000 the other day,but didn't get any groups as there were two of us shooting, but it was quite easy to hit. There were several 3-shot clusters that were under 3".

This project has turned out better than I could have ever hoped for. It feeds the cartridges in the kwik klip absolutely AWESOME! ( feed lips need to be opened up slightly) Mag is only 1/8" longer than necessary. I'm looking forward to taking some long range shots this years as my hunting kit is now complete with Swaro range finder, weather station , PDA with X-ball.
I've been doing a bunch of practicing and with a little more I think I will feel confident to 800 yds. for one shot hits without taking a spotter shot first (in good conditions, of course.

Enjoy the pix thanks for letting me share my excitement.

Nate,

Sweeeeettttt!!!!!!!!!

What's a "cone" bolt face?

What kind of velocity would you guestimate if shots per case were only 5 or so?

Here is a pix of the cone bolt face. The barrel has a funnel to match on the breech end ( less likely to hang up in feeding) clearance between barrel funnel and bolt cone is .001.

as usual an amazing rifle but, these pictures dont do this gun justice. i think that this thing looks better in person. i like the looks of it with the mark 4.

i have a feeling that you will get that 800 yard shot this year. hope to see you take that shot.

Nate,

No...... Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the reading, the videos and the great quality of work. Than you again!

Desert Fox,

Do you recognize the stock? You've had it in your hands before. This is the woodland camo A-5 I got in on trade from you. I'll post some long range results shortly. I have the regional "F" class match to shoot at the end of the week.
