.338 300gr scenar

A big 338 is getting awfully tempting!
How is scenars on game performance?

I dont know on the 300gr Scenar because I have never shot them, but I have shot the 338 250gr Scenar and 6mm scenars, they have less expansion than a FMJ. Scenars are awesome target paper punching bullets but have zero (00000) use as a game bullet unless you prefer wounding animals instead of harvesting animls.

I was gonna say the same thing uncleb, based on yours and GG's experience with the 250g. Good for paper, bad for killing...

Better stick with the SMK if you plan on killing anything.

I'll sacrifice .040 BC anyday for time tested and proven killing on game.

Just asking. Thanks for the info.

If You are willing to sacrifice bc over killing performance, the Nosler Accubond in 250 grains is worth a try.

I have a feel that Nosler for the season 2009 will have a 300 grainer made.

"I have a feel that Nosler for the season 2009 will have a 300 grainer made."

I wouldn't count on it...

That would be like them making a 240g AB in 30 cal, or a 200g AB in 7mm. Highly doubtful..

I wonder if the 300 gr scenar is going to be good on game over the 250? I have read here that the 250 smk does not do good on game but the 300gr.smk is a hell of a bullet. Do you all think that the scenar will not be the same? Maybe they will be made with thiner jackets.

I shoot the 155 scenars in my .308 and they suck on animals but my buddies 6.5 shooting the 139 scenars really blasts the hell out of anything.

Nolo...I just got 400 of these in the mail....

buddys got some 2000 acres near the canadian border...needs some of the critters culled out..
by the end of this deer season I'll have a good answer for you
