congrats to Nate (308nate) for winning the state shoot! A score of 728 in winds from 18 to 30mph at 3 o'clock wind direction. Oh yeah here are a few pictures of the gun(the stock isn't finished but it still got the job done).

specs.

6X47 lapua single shot

savage target action(triple pillar bedded)
target accutrigger at 8oz.
Russo A5L red and grey
Broughton 5C 1:7.5 twist barrel
All smithing done by SSG
20moa base
I have a nightforce 5.5-22X56 NXS to top it off with as soon as I get a little higher rings.

Outstanding!!!

Unlike a lot of people, I like to shoot in 'big wind'. I'm not necessarily that good at it, but I'm not scared of it - and thats about half the battle. That and the people who favor 'trigger pulling contests' tend to stay home ;)

Good job in tough conditions. I always wished there was some way to pro-rate scores by the conditions to make things a little less apples to oranges when it comes to comparing scores from one range to another.

Again, congrats!

I'm with you on the wind. I don't enjoy hunting in the wind, but I do enjoy long range shooting in the wind ad yes it would be nice if they could pro rate conditions.

Brent you are too kind!
Thank you very much for letting me use you 6x47. I think it's going to be a shooter!
I'll try to get some more pictures today. looking forward to shooting with you and against this gun at the reginals :) in a week and a half........

Is that a fluted bolt in it? From the picture it looks like maybe it is.

Out of curiosity where did that come from?

Will

Will, yes the bolt is fluted. 308nate (straight shot gunsmithing) did the fluting on the bolt and built the gun. Joel made the stock. Nate has fluted all four of the builds, and they have turned out excellent. I do believe it is around $65 for push feed bolts.

hey Nate , just wondering if you charge any extra to shoot a gun in a match prior to deliverly ??
I may have to send you my stock :D My reciever should be to you today or Monday , I hope unless UPS missplaces it

hey james, I was wondering if it is going to cost me extra because it is proven to be a shooter. The best part is all the hard work is already done developing a load.:D

Brent

Yea the load development does help out alot , I'm having Nate build me a new 308 thats gonna see use both in some f-class comps and as a police sniper weapon so I'm hoping that it'll shoot realy well with either 175gr Federal Premium Match or Black Hills Match.
Either way I'll probably end up shooting some Bergers in F-class.

james, a friend who introduced me to custom guns and nate had a 308 palma built the same time I had my 7wsm built. It is unreal, we went out at 400yds. and shot at shotgun shell hulls. Needless to say we were hitting them. He is quite confident with a 308 much like yourself(I am assuming) I think after this 6X47 repeater is done nate will have to build me a 308. What do you think of the new pheonix actions?
