30-378 Wby using 200 gr Accubonds or 210 Bergers.

Phli, I shoot this load in two different rifles. An accumark with a factory 26" barrel and a Mark V with a 30" HS Precision barrel. 1/2 moa in both rifles. I have shot this out to 1000 yds. and was very pleased. It is also my go to hunting load.

Wby case trimmed to 2.900
Fed 215 GM
98 gr of H-1000
Berger 210 VLD
Aol of 3.800"
O-give of 3.118"
MV with 26" barrel 3050
MV with 30" barrel 3132

Broz, you must load pretty conservatively. I get right at 3000 in my .300 Wby (210 Berger) with a 25.5 in. barrel. I also have a 30-378 (34 in) but have not shot the Berger's yet.

I really like the 210's, should kill elk at very long ranges.

Thanks
Picked up a couple boxes of 200 gr ABs yesterday.
Shooting some groups right now--letting it cool off while I load three more.
Trying some RL-25, next group will be max at !02grs. Should be around 3100 fps out of 26" barrel. To lazy to set up my chrony, don't have alot of faith in it anyhow.
Shooting a Sako 995, all factory, been bedded with muzzle brake added. Gun loves 180 gr TSX-- made my longest shot with this load--721 yds on a big 5x5 bull in WY.
Just got the bug to try a heavier bullet in it.

I do now Marine sniper, But there was a day when I had 168gr TSX's going 3700 out of a 30-378gun). Then I got to watching these boys shoot 1000 yards and found out the slow heavy bullets will out run the lil ones on down track. They also tought me about a sweet spot around 3000.;)

I worked up the load for the accumark and took a nice Bull with it. (see pic) So when I got the custom barrel gun I shot 3 of the same loads into one ragged hole. Good enough!!:) Kinda nice they can use the same load. Brass life is great with this load so I just enjoy it.

That's a lot of powder just to run 3000. I'm getting just over 3000 with 80gr of H-1000 and 210's. I've been thinking about a 30-378, but I was hoping it was good for 3000 with 240's.

I don't have the data but I would bet you can get 3000 with a 240 and less powder. I say that judging from my 300 SMK Lapua load of 91 grains and what I have seen printed with 250 SMK's and H-1000.

I have also shot a few 190 VLD's with 100 gr of H-1000 in the 26" rifle. MV in the 3300's and great accuracy at 100 yds. But elected to go with the 210's.

Broz, I am breaking in a new barrel (factory dimension chamber) with 115 gr US 869, 215 M's, 200 gr Accubonds. About 1 moa (cleaning between shots). Also loaded some identical loads except with 215 primers. Only 6 rds fired, no speed reading. Got rained out. In the other barrel I got 1/4 moa with H-5010, 215M's, 190 Smkhp's. I set oal on both loads to get full neck engagement. I like the 869, but haven't proved it out yet. I'm looking for 1/2 moa.

Good shooting, Tom

Is anyone using Retumbo? Just curious, this is what I am using. I am getting great velocity and 0.75-1.0 moa if I do my part. I was wondering if some of the other powders are a more accurate powder?

Mind posting your load and vel figures.
With 101gr RL-25 I'm getting an avg.3093 fps--1½" groups at 300 yds.gun)
Anybody using the 200-210gr Sierras??

GM 215M primers 117 gr retumbo 150 tsx 3700 oal=3.7
GM 215M primers 112.4 gr retumbo 180 tsx 3550 oal=3.7
*GM 215M primers 112.8 gr retumbo 180 SMK oal=3.7 have not chronoed.

* showing pressure signs at this level. The other loads seems to be in an acceptable pressure level. Velocity for factory barrel. Please back off and use caution if you try any of these. I have not tried any 200's or 210's yet.

Started at 102gr Retumbo w/200gr Accubond and went to 106 in 1gr increments, then 106½, 107. Just stopped at 107gr, no pressure signs.
Each load was ½moa except 104gr which opened to around 1"--maybe me.
Bright sun, couldn't use the chrony--need an overcast day.
