Mag box is only 3.70". Has anyone tried the 300MK loaded up this short? I didn't even bother to get any 300MKs but I thought I should ask if anybody has tried this.

How long is a 300mk and when its loaded to touch the lands, how much of it is in the barrel?

Thanks,
Rob

Black Hills factory load 338 Laupa match ammo is loaded to 3.6" overal length. The 300 SMK is an awesome bullet for long range shot from a 338 Laupa. Nothing wrong with a 3.7" overall lenght IMHO

You would have to check that in you own rifle.

I wasn't clear in my question, I'm not talking about case OAL, I mean the bullet tip to just above the shank as the ogive contacts the barrel. If you were loaded touching the lands, the distance from the tip to the marks left on the bullet.

Reason I ask is because this rifle has a fairly short throat and I have no idea what shape the ogive is on the 300mk. It possible, but not likely, that with this throat I can't even load long and single feed.

I'll pick a few up.
