planning a colorado elk hunt in 09,my problem and questions are: I"m 6"5 and 300 pounds sometimes its hard enough to find regular clothes and other gear to fit properly, now I'll need a good sleeping bag if anyone else has this same problem and knows a good solution please let me know.

If you're willing to shell out a little cash, Butler bags are absolutely the best there is. And they make them plenty big (41"X84"). I think you can special order larger ones as well. Check them out: Butler Bags- sleeping bags built for comfort and durability

I don't know much about using these on camping trips, but I used the heck out of mine overseas. I'm 6'-0" and about 250 and didn't have any problem fitting in one of these, but I also know there's a big difference between 6' and 6'-5". I'd try one get your hands on one of the military modular sleeping bag systems. It comes with a light bag, heavy bag, gortex shell, and a compression sack. It's a combo that's hard to beat and they are worth whatever money you spend on one. It's worth a try.

thanks for the replies, after looking around and seeing what some of this stuff costs I'm glad I have 12+months to plan and save$ by the way couse those do look like nice bags, but OMG thats almost the price of my elk tag. thanks again

hahaha, yeah, they're a little pricey. I was lucky and got one as a gift. Most comfortable sleeping bag I've ever owned, hands down. Good luck on your purchase

You will need to be careful selecting a back pack frame. Make sure it is adjustable to your height.
Sorry to high jack your thread, but i'd like to hear some input on packs. I'm 6'8 and am finding a limited selection of packs that will fit. I'm looking at the EberleStock DragonFly and J107, Nimrod, and Badlands and it seems EberleStock is out front from what i've been able to track down.
Any thoughts?

Many of the really good camping gear stores such as REI will have a "try" frame which is like a "try" shotgun stock. You adjust it until everything is correct and then you know which pack frames will fit you best.

Eberlestock makes phenomenal packs and I love my J104, but I'm only 6'-0". I would give those guys a call and ask them... They have been very friendly and helpful whenever i called them and I'm sure they've run across your situation before. Good luck.
