Kirby is not a stranger to anyone on this site. And now welcome him as our newest Sponsor. For those who just walked in the door for the first time, Kirby's company is Allen Precision Shooting and he makes pretty darn good custom rifles and handguns. I am the proud owner of one of his handguns in 6.5 WSM.

+1 on APS making nice rifles the one I obtained is top notch. Now Kirby if your reading this....please hurry dude:) I really need to play with that 338 before I go to NM in August.

What do you get for velocity and how many MOA to get to 1K with the WC 200 grain? Barrel length?

I do not own a chronograph that way I can make up any velocity I want to and not be lying.

Kirby chronographed it at 3340fps with 102 grains of US 869. I am now running 103 grains with fully formed cases and I believe it is about 3350fps. It is a four groove 34 inch Lilja barrel. Kirby now uses Rock 5Rs with thin grooves and he can reach the same speeds with a 30 inch barrel I believe. I think Dick is using a 32 inch Rock barrel

At 54 & 78 degrees at Quantico which has an elevation of about 200', I got drops of 17.0 - 17.5 MOA at 1K. These are real fired data, not calculated. The data are the reverse of what you might believe because I kept the bullets in a cooler in the warmer weather shooting so the bullets were actually colder. Powder temperature at the time the firing pin strikes is pretty important at 1K.

They may not have a match when you come, but they might have a Rec Fire day and we could just shoot some clay pigeons and homemade targets.

Kirby good for you…

Okay...then....get mine out right after you get done with Joecools:) Just hacking on ya a bit Kirby. I know you are timely on your builds.....I am just impatient. If I remember correctly you estimated July, sounds like you will make it in plenty of time.

Joecool,
If your ever down my way that invitation goes both ways. I only have one APS gun right now, but I bunch of cool stuff in the safe.

Can someone PM me with Kirby's mailing address. I need to get something to him right away and cannot find his address.
