Wby Mkv

I have a Wby Mkv accumark in 300 wby . I have not done alot of shooting with this rifle yet but after finding this sight i am keen to see what it can now do.
Dose anybody have any experience with Accumarks or the 300wby? Are there any mods i could make to the rifle?

New to the Game and going to ask some dumb questions so plese be patient.

I replaced the trigger in my 30-378 accumark with a Timney. I did not think that I could get the factory trigger to 1 pound. Also I have played with several handloads. It will usually shoot .75 moa groups, if I act right. A friend of mine has one in 270 mag and it will also shoot in the .75 moa range. I have heard some people recommend bedding the rifle. I have not tried that yet.

I have 3 of them. On mine I adjusted the triggers down to 14-15 ounces, (with a spring change they will go as light as 6 ounces) skim bedded them, torque the action screws to a precise 55 inch pounds. In the 300Wby mine has an Accubrake. That makes it a pleasure to shoot. I use a Leupold 8.5-25x50 scope on mine. It's the next best thing to a full custom you can buy. I use 200 grain Accubonds at 3100fps with IMR-7828SSC powder and CCI-250 primers. Mine groups well under an inch at 100. Mine is a solid 600 yard hunting rifle.

I also have found the accubonds accurate in my rifle .
What is your OAL ?

Also by skim bedding are you refering to a thin layer of eppy glass due to the bedding block?

3.7" OAL.

I used MarineTex with a thin layer front and rear. I also do the recoil lug 100%. It's very important to get some support under it or when you tighten up the front action screw it places a lot of stress on the front of the action.

Jawz, I also have a Wby Accumark that I have upgraded. It is in 257 Wby but I do also have a 300 Wby. Mine looks like this now. (far from stock!)

This rifle has a McMillan A5, Lilja #7 barrel, Timney trigger, Marine tex and Aluminum pillar bedding, Leupold MK4 6.5-20x50. I can still put on my original stock(which I have opened up the barrel channel to accept the Lilja barrel) if I want a slightly lighter set up. I shoot a 115gr Berger VLD at 3325fps and it shoots like this very consistantly at 100 yards.

I have a few of them. The 257 shot the best. It holds between .5-75 for 5 shots regularly. The 30-378 and 338-378 shot good to around an inch. Just use a good scope and it'll be a shooter!

Nice rig. Wow. And it looks like a rifle. Now I know I need a Wby for my retirement...

I have a custom 240wby i had built on a ruger action it shoots .5 at 100m with hornady 100g STB . Today i got som sierra match kings 107gr to try out will see how it gose.

My accumark is still stock but will be going the bedding job soon. Mate of mine is going to the states soon might get him to pick me a 4.5-14x 50 with the Holland recticle as it looks the goods and should do me out to 800.

For the last two years my 30-378 accumark has been the "go to" hunting rifle for me. As for mods I did bed the action lug and skim bed the rear tang area. Bedded the scope bases. Also cut one coil off the trigger spring to get it below 2.5 pounds. It has a 8.5x25 Leupold on it and has shot a best group of .484". In the last year it has served me well and has took, a nice 6x7 bull Elk, an adult 4x4 Muley in Montana, 2 nice Axis bucks, a Good Black Buck Antelope, and a great Aoudad Ram exotics were shot in Texas open range. I think the accumark will serve you well and the 300 Wby is a great cal too.

How long was your Black Buck and Chital deer (axis).

We have them here on a property behind high wire as well as sambar deer . We dont offer them for hunting yet a we are awaitng legislation to change to allow it. As soon as that happens we will build our big fences.

I also have a WBY 30-378 Accu mark that I picked up from Mark Thompson of Thompson's Long Range Shooting. I had the trigger worked on and the action bedded. It shoots about 1" MOA at 100 yards. I have had two other Accumarks both 30-378 and 338-378 and both also shot well. With the long range 30-378 I have taken a game as far as 624 yards to date.

I have shot alot of Weatherby rifles through out the years, but have been slowly switching to custom rifles built on Remington's M-700 actions.

When I shoot the barrel out on the 30-378, I plan on putting a better barrel than the one that came stock. I like the Accumark with the #7 Lija custom barrel. That's a great looking gun.

The Axis were just decent bucks and the Black Buck was 4 curls with good mass. I didn't measure them but I am having them mounted. I do have pics, but I guess I have not posted enough to post pics.
