20x80 binoculars/best prices?

i would like to purchase some 20x80 binoculars with bak4 prizms.where might i find a decent price for a set?jason

I dont know where but I would advise against that kind of binoculars for hunting.-< they will be hard to hold and offer a much lower field of view than a 8 x or 10 x whihc in my opinion is enough. If you want to observe an animal at LR and need more magnification, get a spotting scope.

They do have their place. You need a tripod or a window mount, but glassing long distances (as in miles) they are pretty nice. Keeping one eye closed for hours (or days) on end looking through a spotting scope gets old. Fast. And as 30-06 said they have an 80mm objective end so field of view is the same as a pair of 10x40's. I used a pair a friend of mine has and was pretty impressed.

30-06 this wouldn't be a cheap route, but you can also get a bracket to attach two spotting scopes together if you need even more magnification or clarity.

And Dick, how are you always everywhere all at once?

That is a really nice setup but heck, the cost of mine just about pays the tax and shipping on the Swaros.

Coues you´re right.-<I read 20 x 50 -too fast.Still it is clear he´ll need some tripod or similar device as you say.

Yeah, $3200 is a little much for a pair of 4-5lb binocs. That being said, I'd love to look through a pair .

i have two pair that i would sell ya. the first ones are cabelas house brand 20x80. if ya go to there web site i think they will be around 425 bucks. i would sell them for 235.
next i have a pair of steiner 20x80. i would sell them for 600 bucks. i have had them both since new. let me know

Celestron or Zhumell makes some big binos for a respectable price. i bought a pair of 25 x 100's Zhumell's this year for 230. they weigh over 10 lbs but i don't mind the weight when they're on a tripod! they also have 20 x 80's but i don't think they're considered water proof.

If you are glassing at distance for extended periods of time first you need a tripod. You can not hand hold anything over 10x for any period of time, it does not work. Second, you need quality. Glassing requires hours behind the set from a tripod, cheap glass will give you eye strain in a matter of minutes. You are far better off to go with something in the 10, 12 or 15x range of better quality, on a tripod. People buy a set of 15 or 20x of inferior quality then cant use them because of the strain and also they cannot disern the tines on tha buck at 1,400 yards because of the optics quality. A good pair of 12 or 15 with a doubler or tripler will handle just about any need you can think of. And you can not spend hours behind a spotting scope either, they are for evaluation once you have spotted the game. Take a look at Leica, Swarovski, Vortex Kiabab, Leupold 17x, High end Nikons. The Steiners are fair at best. if you really want big glast the Docter sytem is first rate for about $3,500 with eye peice choices, definatly not real portable. Go to a local store and ask to take them outside, put a newspaper up at distance and you will find out real quickly what will perform. Good luck from the guy who spends 8-16 hours a month behind the glass.

If the Cabelas 20x80 are still available, would they include the mounting bracket for tripod use?
