22-250 AI info/loads

Please bare with me,I am in the process of having my Rem 700 VS changed to a switch barrel set up.I have ordered a barrel over here in Down Under for the 22-250AI.I don't want to fireform cases with projectiles,and I have heard of the cornmeal/cream of wheat method,but I don't know what 'cream of wheat' is,or how to do this process.
I have a 375 Weatherby that I fireform with pumpkin/parafin wax,but not all cases (2%) come out fully formed.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Cream of wheat is breakfast Hot cereal . Ok I have the same cartridge.Here what you do: Large rifle magnum primer,10grs of unique or other fast pistol powder like Bullseye.( Just check burning rate charts) a little bit of tissue paper. Then fill the case with corn meal and seal it with wax. Load it in gun and fire. These dudes are very loud plus these are not blanks corn meal is like a shot gun pattern. For me these loads formed the cases 100%. Good day mate

hornady hydroforming dies

are the way to go, although they dont produce the sharp shoulders, sorta rounded, but the capacity is such that you can shoot your normal AI loads without any problems, then they are 100% formed........ You get a special shell holder and die assembly, put a FIRED primer in and fill with water, press all the way to cam over, hit with a hammer 3 times and presto, your ai'D


BTW I have had REALLY good luck with 44.4gr of win 760 with 55gr noslers, federal 210m primers in norma cases, producing 4030 FPS, and 15 shots @ 300m into .9 grouping......

I shot that load today

W-W 760 44.5grs with Sierra Blitzking produced 3,925 average. Tight groups . I wonder what that would do to a coyote?

My first batch was over 4000, I have also used varget to get 4225 but ohhhh the primer pockets were done.....

I might try H414 but i am pretty happy with ww760.....

Coyotes????Welll, lets say it works VERY well..... I shot one in the boiler room at 450yrds, when i picked it up ituthere was some heavy gurgling from inside.....Jello. Works great.gun)
U MIGHT WAS TO try the 55gr nosler... They have a better BC.

Gentlemen...with over 25 years + reloading experience I always have and still still fireform using "cream-of-wheat" in all calibres from 17 REM to 300 WIN Mag...7MMSTW...308 , 260, 243 Ackley,22-250Ackley...20PPC , 20BR
have never had a stitch of problem light bulb

Bob @ Sinclair International order line uses cream of wheat and is a huge fan of this process.

I fireform ALL new brass using cream of wheat.
I've never had a misfire or usafe occurance using 700X powder and poly fibre capping (NOT WAX - THATS A MESSY-WRONG TECHNIQUE )
All my fireformed loads are developed with crisp shoulders.

Hydro dies are surely okay - but they're a custom item that costs money and time to obtain and limited to one particular calibre/rifle.
Its just another choice with same end-result.

Can't we just get along??????

OK today shooting my Cooper Classic with a after market fast twist (8")5R BBL. Using two powders load combos IMR 4064 and WW-760 55gr Nosler W-W Black tipped bullets and Sierra 55gr Blitzking bullets .Both max charges. My rifle has a sporter stock with sporter weight BBL haven't been able to get super great accuracy. 3/4MOA and a few 1/2 MOAs with a few flyers but I figure for hunting coyotes they'll work.

Yes they are Al. Just like HP38=WW231, HS6=(old) WW540, (old) H450=(old) WW785, and H110=WW296.

Sporter weight BBL and stock 22-250AI

Best accuracy I can get is about 3/4MOA some times less. Bestload so far has been IMR 4064 39gr behind 55gr Nosler CT bullet. This load produced 3,885 average out of 20 rounds. W-W 760 produced 3,910 with inferior accuracy.Its the **** fliers that get to me. Getting a great group pull the next trigger " Hey what the H-- was that?" So do you think because its a sporter rifle its not getting 1/2 MOA groups? I'm shooting of cadwell bags and rear ears.

Still can't find 'cream of wheat' over here,nobody here even knows what it is!I think I'll stick with pumpkin/wax,2% isn't that bad in failure rate(2 of 100).Where it doesn't form is near the web,the shoulders are perfect every time,so the first firing with projectiles irons out any unformed section.
I picked up the rifle on friday,have fire formed 100 cases,bloody LOUD,I shoot into a pipe 8" in diameter buried about 8' in the ground,which has foam pipe insulation inside to muffle any noise.The first one,I didn't have the barrel in far enough,and it blew all the foam out,it was so LOUD,I had neighbours coming out everywhere!
Still waiting for my Davidson Barrel Vise and Hall Action Wrench to arrive from Sinclair International,so I have to leave the 250 AI barrel in for now,even though I don't have any loads worked up for it yet!
Can't WAIT to destroy something with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COW and H414 and 760

COW..... get some 700x shotgun powder, try about 10gr....put in powder, then fill to the top with cream of wheat.......Compact into casing about bottom of neck with a an allen key or whatever..... Use dacron from say a pillow, roll up a little, push in with allen keyu....trim excess with scizzors.... Fire.... There ya go, u can use 231, or unique or whatever thats fast burning.... I use 700x cause i had some.



Last time I remember, H414 is not the same powder as WW760..... it has slightly slower burn rate.... Oh yeah... well if its all the same, why not just say that ohhh 760 is so close to H380 and reloader 15, they are slightly faster burning than 760.....so hey they all must be the same....

---->I am shooting a heavy bbl PACNOR 1-12 twist(.960 or so at the muzzle) barnard actioned custom.....I dont get the fliers with 760 you speak of....It could be the the sporter weight bbl......

Federal 215, 40gr. of varget behind a 50gr nosler bt yields me around 4050fps. Groups less than .25" all day long.
