I was thinking of toning up my rifle for hunting season in a dryland theme . I only want the paint on it for a few months then I want to take it back off. Does anyone know of a paint that could give me that coyote tan, o. combo that I can paint the rifle , scope etc in , then remove at a later date ?? I was wondering about a water based paint ???

Any help appreciated

Krylon Works pretty well, I have a gun painted with this and a lot of the guys at snipershide have theirs done in krylon also. Although I havent removed mine most say its not to hard to remove with stuff like break cleaner, some say mineral spirits, probably a few other paint removers would work too.

Use this link and do a keyword search for 'paint' Removable Weapon Paint

"A complete range of colours to allow you to temporarily camouflage your weapon according to the theatre of operations. The paint is then easily removed with the paint remover, which is available as a spray as well. You can also use these paints to camouflage your kit or your helmet, but in this case the paint may be permanent depending on the material. These paints are IRR compliant and present a dull/matte finish when dry"

...sounds like what you're after.

Not sure if you can get it in the States though.

Brown dog,

Thanks for the help. It really does sound like what I'm looking for. CAn it be applied to all surfaces like scope, stock and barrelled actions ? HAve you seen any dressed up like this ? How easy can it be removed ? The thing is I have a expensive rifle and dont want to destroy its resale value with a paint job ?

Thanks mate !

DUH,

Apologies, for no good reason I didn't twig your location.

I can't vouch for the stuff first hand. There's a good write up on Sniper's Paradise. I've been toying with the idea of getting some for a while.

Sounds as though you'd have the same reticence as me!

It's occurred to me that I haven't given you the easiest most uncontentious solution:

For really quick excellent cam, that is 100% easily removable try Brit sniper tape (it's actually name tape for NBC suits, but has come to be known as sniper tape, you won't see an L96 that isn't covered in it. Comes in pale green or sand:

eg ebay link: British Desert Sniper Tape)

Put it on and then muck it up a bit!
