My friend just purchased a browning A-bolt stainless stalker in 7mm rem mag. I have not had any experience with browning but i was shooting his gun the other day at the range and right out of the box it was shooting 1'' moa. just seeing what others think about the a-bolt and it capabilities.

I have a 280 rem in the same gun. It also shot very well right out of the box. I was useing 4831 sc and it was shooting .750 groups. I changed to RL 22 with 154H sst and every shot is in the same hole or touching. The only other thing that has been done is the trigger was worked on and set to 2lbs. I have some remingtons that do that well but not out of the box. Also the barrel on the Browning is a button rifled barrel and cleans up with half the effort.

I shoot a A-bolt composite stalker in 25/06, I handload for it. I can put three bullets into 2 holes at around 3/8" with a hangover. I love it!!!!!!!

My buddy had an A-bolt in 7mm mag with the boss shooting system and it was very accurate. His best 3-shot 300yd group was 3/4" and it could hold MOA to 700yds. Of course this was all with handloads.

They wouldn't be my first choice for a heavy rifle, but for a carry rifle I really like them. This one Kirby spiffied up for me a bit has been nothing but outstanding:

Browning A-bolts are very nice rifles and generaly shoot pretty well from the factory. My brother in law has a 7mm Mag and it would shoot around an inch with factroy ammo , after a little tweeking like a trigger and bedding , then some hand loads it will consistanly shoot right at half in or in the upper.5's
the trigger would be the first thing I'd look at if I were you.

My son just turned 15 this last October and I helped him get a Stainless Stalker in 270 WSM. Outstanding accuracy for not having to do a lot of work up loads. He settled on a 150 gr Partition. Handloaded it shoots 3 @ 1/2" @ 100 yds. We threw the load together fairly quick for Deer and Elk season. He filled a buck and an elk tag with it. Also nice as far as the carry weight. Fairly lightweight for long treks but still holds stable.

It was my buddy's rifle and loads. I believe he was using 154gr Hornady A-max with RL-19 and remington 9 1/2 Magnum primers. I'd have to give him a call to get specifics.

Yup, had it made to my own design (I'm just too **** picky
). 7075-T6, Type III Hard Anodize, extended length, about 2.1 oz. I did have a couple extra made, give me a shout if interested. The scope is the IOR 3-18X42 FFP before I broke it. I should have the new and improved replacement soon. i would be real interested in what he was using if you do not mind giving him a call. i would like to try it for myself. thanks

I shoot 56.7 grains of H 4831 with a 75 gr hornady V-max, and large rifle magnum primers for the extra heat. I haven't been able to buy any of the V max's for a while so I had to switch to the hollow point seirra's in 75 gr with 56.1 grains of the 4831, shoots like a dream. Keep in mind you can have two rifles exactly the same and they might like two completely differant loads.

the load was 140gr accubond with 64.5gr of rl22. it may have shoot even better if i seated the bullets out more but i loaded them to still fit in the clip. i used fed. magnum primers.
