Who makes a heavyweight .277" High-BC Match-Style bullet?
I've been trying to find SOMETHING to make use of the new .270-300 Winchester magnum with a 28" tube, is there any place I can buy ~170 grain match bullets?

Wildcat Bullets...

FWIW, they do not return emails or deliver on their promises of shipping unless you are in some inner circle. I am still waiting on bullets promised in May. They may make the slickest bullets, but they have some issues in delivering product. Until they resolve those issues and can deliver in say three months from when an order is placed, I will stick with the ones that can be had in a reasonable amount of time.

I notice that Berger hasn't yet listed their offerings in .277 as of yet.

With WC bullets it seems that when a run is produced you want to by several hundred of 'em.

I think that what may be needed is a U.S. distributor that's willing to stock bunches. However, that would probably bump the prices up some but it would still be worth it.

Chawlston,

Have you bothered to call Wildcat Bullets to find out why the bullet orders are late????

You can only make bullets if you have jackets. Please do some research before you make comments like "Unless your in some inner cirlce".

I am about as close to Richard as you can get and I am waiting also. The only difference is that when I get bullets from Richard, I usually get them in by the 1000 count lot.

I understand many do not want to do this to just test a bullet but please realize that its not easy for a one man opperation to pump out 100,000 bullets in each caliber, of each bullet weight offered over night like the larger bullet makers.

I you called Richard up you would more then likely get a much different response. He even makes me wait for e-mails at times so when I need to contact him I call him directly which is what you should do.

Again, the issue has been jackets, please look into things more before you make comments that can damage a business. Everyone I have talked to that has delt with Richard for the most part has had nothing but the best to say about him and his bullets.

I have had bullets on order from Nosler and Berger for much longer then 3 months.

Sorry for the rant and no offense intended but there are circumstances that are the reason you are not seeing any bullets. Pick up the phone and call before you make comments like this please.

One more thing, were you charged for these bullets when they were ordered? If I know Richard I would bet not unless they were a custom bullet he had to order new dies for. What bullet maker will send bullets that have not been paid for? Only one that I know of, Wildcat bullets....

I haven't found a phone number yet for Wildcat, can anyone post it? I'd like to place an order.

Richard is one of the nicest people to do business with that I've done business with. Plus he knows one helluva lot about bullet construction, performance in the barrel and terminal performance. The last time we exchanged emails he indicated that he "should" have some of the jackets he wanted somewhere about now.

I've been thinking and that's usually a bad thing. I know nothing about the bullet making/jacket procuring process but I wonder why Sierra would want to sell jackets to a competitor thought their markets are vastly different. I thinking of the movie "Tucker".

With the price of copper and lead rising fast, I suppose due to the world wide unrest, there is a shortage of bullet making materials.

After years of trying a bunch of different powders, bullets, primers and brass to get the maximum out of a factory rifle I was surprised in a major way with an APS custom rifle. The whole process was get the Wildcat bullet that the cartridge was designed for, put the proper amount of powder and primer behind it and go to shooting small groups. Then work up the drop chart and go shoot stuff. Sheese, what fun is that! Thus I purchased only 100 bullets where I should have purchased 500 and I would have had a life time stock on hand.

Ol' St. Pete says: add to your faith virture; and to virture knowledge; And to knowledge temperance;; and to temperance patience:...... If it weren't for that patience thing I'd be **** near perfect. However, I notice that he didn't include cheap:D

I've been reloading a whopping ONE year next month, have my first wildcat finished and shooting .300" 5 shot groups off a portable bench, my next wildcat started and have created a great computerized database system to track my progress (I load about 15 different chamberings thus far). One of the best lessons I've taken from my experience thus far is - stock up on components!

Looking forward to hearing back from Richard. My little .270 wildcat will retain energy better than nearly anything I can calculate with the 169.5 ULD's.

It looks like they'll go 3150 fps +-50 fps out of my 28" barreled .270-300 Win Mag. is anyone loading these in a .270 Weatherby?

Kirby,

Yes I have. I have both called and sent numerous emails.

"Please do some research before you make comments like "Unless your in some inner cirlce"."

Kirby,

I have done research and bullets were shipped to folks after he promised me a shipment. Heck, he is the one promising the shipments.

"I have had bullets on order from Nosler and Berger for much longer then 3 months."

Kirby,

We are not talking three months, the promises were back in May of 2007 for shipments for testing.

Sorry for the rant and no offense intended but there are circumstances that are the reason you are not seeing any bullets. Pick up the phone and call before you make comments like this please.

Kirby,

You need to realize that I have done all of this already and still no responses or bullets. He really does not need you to make excuses for or to stand up for him. It is merely a bullet order. I am sure he is a nice guy, but come on we are into eight months of waiting. I have decided that since I only get to shoot 1K and under, that I can shoot the ones that are readily available when I need them. Maybe one day all the issues will be resolved and he will get caught up and I can get some.

Finally, I have purchased bullets from him before, so I know the procedure.

One more thing Kirby,

When the bullets did not arrive as promised, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and tried both calling and emailing. No responses whatsoever. I have just given up and hope others don't have the same problem. That is specifically why I posted on this thread when the new shooter inquired about long range bullets. It does not matter who makes the best if he choses not to fulfill orders or ignore orders. If his business is damaged, it is by his practices and lack of fulfillment of his promised shipments. No more no less.

Richard told me he flat out aint gonna send out no seconds, same thing he told Kirby he keeps getting bad jackets. You want junk? Ya aint gettin it from him!.......May 07 Chawlston looks like you ordered in the middle of his farming and got at least another 4 months to go!

Yea, I want my 400 now too, but not right to bash a guy doing the best he can for his customers! And my check finally went through yesterday so in a couple months Ill have a right to whine!

Ordered mine in Feb 07, So stop whinin!

Chawlston,

Lets see, you ordered in the month of May, Richard generally has around a month of prep time getting equipment ready for the seeding season and then 3 to 4 weeks actually seeding and you called him right in the middle of that time of year. If you know any farmers, its usually from before daylight until well after daylight as far as working days.

The same thing happens from August to the end of september so in the timeframe you are referring to, there have been around 4 to 5 months where Richard has even been making bullets and I can assure you his problems with jackets has been going on MUCH longer then when you sent in your order in May.

I do not make excuses for Richard of any kind. Never have and never will. That would be insulting to him if I did. I am simply trying to open your eyes to the fact that bullet making is secondary to his main source of income, FARMING and that takes up alot of time. I also wanted to open your eyes to the fact that there have been issues with jacket quality that Richard has had to deal with.

Most of his customers understand this but there are always others that feel there is nothing that could possibly explain why something is late that they ordered. Must simply be that their order was ignored. That is hardly the case here but it seems you have your mind made up.

I have not had a shipment of 169.5 gr ULD RBBTs since this spring either. I have also not had a shipment of 200 gr ULD RBBTs since well before that. Why, Richard is busting his hump to get a reliable source of jackets so that his bullets will remain the quality they are and as already mentioned, you will not see any seconds coming from Wildcat Bullets.

If you can not live with that then you would certainly be much better off ordering from a large comerical bullet maker which is appearently what you have done and are recommending to others.

All I am saying is that you need to learn the reasons for late orders before making irresponsible comments like you did. As another smalll business owner, word of mouth either makes or breaks you. Unfortunately, unbased, uneducated comments do just as much damage as a comment based in fact.

That is my point for replying to you.
