A friend of mine just bought a 240 cobra. We cannot seem to find any load data for this round. If any of you here have any info. on this round it would be greatly appriciated.

Volume One of the Handbook for shooters and reloaders by P. O. Ackley has the 240 Cobra (220 Swift necked up to 6mm) in it. It lists the following as MAXIMIM loads:

for 95gr bullets:

48gr 4350

for 85gr bullets:

47gr 4064
43gr 4895

for 75gr bullets:

43gr 4064

Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the infol. could you tell me if the powders Ackley was using were IMR or Hodgdon. I believe they should be IMR but I just want to make sure before I tell him. Thanks

I have a 240 Cobra built on a 98 Mauser. The load that I got when I received the rifle is 37 grains 4064 on a 100 grain Sierra bullet. This is very consistent and accurate load in my rifle. As for load data you can emulate the 243 as they are so very close.
