Little to soft in focus but stuck using the package canon efs 18-55 lens until I stop buying shooting stuff or my kids get bigger ;)
 
Ha! That's a plain old Golden Garden Spider...very large, very docile and very common in the midwest. They're good friends for any gardener.
 
Here is a pic of a spider I found this fall (my first real Macro try with the new camera , Canon 30D)
Depth of field is tricky, isn't it?

I love this thread, when I was hunting the National forest in Texas I used to run into the darnedest spiders. I wish I had taken some good pictures to show here.

Spiders give me the creeps!!!!! truly awesome animals and i am very interested in them but they just send the wrong chill up my spine!!

i run into the darnedest spiders early in the morning before the sun comes up and i walk into there webs going to my blind. creeps out my son but does'nt bother my because there the harmless variety
 
We called them Banana Spiders as well. I remember growing up I would catch grasshoppers and throw them into the Banana Spider's web just to watch him do his thing. We fed a few all summer long and they were huge by the time fall arrived. We started out with small grasshoppers at first, but moved to the large flying grasshoppers once the spider could handle them.
