Leupold TMR FFP reticles...

Anyone out there tried one of the new Leupold TMR reticles in the FFP Mark 4 scope?

How does it look at 8.5x and at 25x? I know it can't be "perfect" at all zoom settings due to the nature of the FFP. Photos would be nice if you can provide.

l've just started using the 4.5x14x50 on my Rem 700 in 7-08 at full power at 100yrds l can see a 1/4" circle in the middle of the hollow reticle without any obstruction or distortion. l'm off to try my luck at 300 and maybe 600 this weekend at an MoD range near me, if l hit the paper l'll let you know how it goes.BTW best group so far has been .173" with 120 v-max @100yrds doing 3110 at the muzzle. Piddling about with ballistic data (eskimo.com) for the new 130smk load looks interesting, so should be fun.

I don't know why it "can't be perfect" at all settings. The stedia cover the same amount of area regardless of the power setting.

I'm lookin' for an FFP scope that is a bit of a step up from my Weaver Tactical which is a great scope. Its limited, but not much, by the 42 or 44mm objective and 14.5 power.

Something came across my screen from Leupold the other day mentioning FFP if I remember correctly but I can no other information.

I've narrowed search to Zeiss 6.5-20x50 and possibly Nikon makes something along those lines but I can find very little information on either.

Suggestions?

Well Chaps.

Back from Battle Hill Range, County Durham.

Only got to shoot at 300yrds as there were only 7 of us bothered to turn up and some of the lads wanted to shoot WW2's rifles. The weather was a gusty 8 -12mph @ 10 oclock, but there was little rain in the air so that was a bonus.
Following the data sheet (7mm 130smk's @2800) l dialed in 4.75 mins of elevation and held off half a mil for the wind, and sod me if l wasn't on target!! 14 rounds in a 4"x6" patch and 5 were in the 2" aim point, also made a reasonable 53X60 (10shots for score) on the BR target, so l didn't think l'd done bad for a first attempt in thoughs conditions.
As for Don's Q about the scope, l'm really chuffed with it. l played about looking at various know targets and checking it against the data book for the scope and couldn't falt it at all. l like the FFP as the reticle doesn't jump out at you as you increase the power of magnification, the only thing l will say is that l'm glad l got the scope with the illuminated reticle as it's a bit fine and you can loose it when out lamping foxes.

I learned a lot during that month. Since my return I've begun upgrading all of my equipment that needs upgrading to ensure success when the opportunity for success arises. I'll be posting all of that soon.

I have the new 8x25x50 Mark 4 FFP TMR reticle on my 338 AM and love it. Have only about 35 rounds down the tube but scope is working great. Could see my 300 gr SMK holes on white paper at 615 yds, no problem on a cloudy day.
