I had two instances of bullet failure over the last week with Noslers Combined technology hunting bullets,i had one fragment on impact on my buck sunday and another on a doe Wed that completly BLEW UP on impact and did not even penetrate the shoulder blade at 100 yards. This is a pic of the ENTRANCE.

Switch to Accubonds

I had the same problem with my 7Rm and the same bullet. I was shooting the Winchester supreme ammo. It shoot .5 moa but I got tierd of the Blood shoot game. I found I was throwing atleast a front shoulder away with a perfect behind the shoulder shot. The combined technology bullet is bassically a coated Balistic tip.

I switched the 160 Accubonds and have been extremely pleased. I will have to say I finaly saw one fail last week on a deer though. Me and my brother stumbled on a nice 3 point at 50yrds with a 7RUM. IT was messy!

Hope this helps, But I have switched my brother and dad to Accubonds and out of 7 deer killed with them, They all but one have preformed perfectly!

By the way they shoot as good as the Balistic tips.

Fifty yards at 7RUM velocity? Probably performs like a varmint bullet at that range and velocity.

100 yards,150 gr. @2950 fps,7mm

Wow, it sure is extreme for a 150 at 2,950. I mean, it has good weight for caliber & not an extreme velocity. I do know that a friend hunting with us in WY earlier this week shot a Antelope Buck in the near shoulder & it was extreme, but it did penetrate, this was a 270WSM & 130BST.

Sure Did!

We were set up for 500yrd plus and this stupid deer was feedign and never looked up. My brother had his head down walking and almost ran over it.
First shot quarting away.---Took out ribs, and front shoulder.
2nd Shot---Stupid thing bounced up and he shot again for the neck. This shot was diffenitly not needed. Soft ball size hole in the neck. Head almost cam off when draging it down the hill.

I was suprised really on the exit wound of the firs shot. I was expecting softball size but it look no different that a 200yrd exit wound. The trama in the inside was devastating to say the least!

Forgive me for being blunt, but I don't see where that is a failure. The bullet did exactly what it was designed to do. The failure came in your missing the advice from Nosler to only use BT's for longer range hunting past 300 yards. It has been in every reloading manual from nosler since the bt's came out. Shoot partitions in close range hunting and Bt's for retained energy at longer ranges. Now that the Accubond is out, we have the best of both worlds.

WHERE DO THEY OFFER THIS ADVICE ON THE PACKAGE THEY CAME IN AND WHO MAKES A BULLET THATS ONLY GOOD AT LONG RANGE?I wont be buying any more of them, problem solved.

WHERE DO THEY OFFER THIS ADVICE ON THE PACKAGE

Since when does any bullet company put advice on the package? If it were there, would you read it anyways? Maybe gun manufacturers should start putting advice on the gun boxes of how to use their rifles? ATTN: All Remington firearms buyers. Please use this rifle in close range hunting only. Do not take a shot over 200 yards or the gun will self detonate!

WHO MAKES A BULLET THATS ONLY GOOD AT LONG RANGE?.

Sierra, Berger, Hornady, and Nosler all make bullets that will penetrate better at longer ranges than at close range. ANd believe it or not, Nosler is the only one that publishes this fact. All you had to do was read it. Sighhh

I didnt realize I had to research their products to find out they are worthless, the speal on the packaging brags about great penetration with expansion, doesnt say look up the fine print on line to see the truth about them.Barnes triple shocks perform at 50 or 500 and at any speed my rifles can produce, problem solved.Defend their crap all you want, they may work flawlessly for you,I changed product lines and i even slowed my loads down below 3000 to ensure they worked properly and they still failed, why use a product line that requires you to shoot slower speeds and certian distances in order for the bullet to work as advertised?SIghh

My rifle is sighted in for long range hunting w/ the 30 cal, 180 BT's but just in case my intended quarry is w/in 300 yds, I carry some rounds loaded with the 180 AB's in the shell holder on my rifles butt. The POI is virtually the same; at least not enough difference to worry about w/in 300 yds. My muzzle vel is 2997.

Well, last weekend the the Utah spike elk I shot decided to play by his rule and presented me a 225 yd shot. It took all of a second to pull an AB from the butt's shell holder and slip it into the chamber. A few minutes later I had a very dead elk on the ground with nothing but a fairly clean through and through hole through the rib cage.

I will say, politely, tactfully but directly, know the limitations of your equipment and you'll have this

Nice elk!I ONLY carry Barnes triples for deer and elk and from now on antelope so it wont be an issue regardless of the range or the animal.
