You did good. Looks like just one little break and you'd have been right up close to the top. Won't be long and we'll be seeing you #1;)

Look out furry critters, he's dialed in now.:);):)

Good goin' Jim,

You're getting down to where the fine points start to make the difference.

Another 1/2" off the bipod legs, a venetian blind thinger and plywood edge to edge down both sides of your firing lane to the target should be just the ticket.;)

Keep up the practice. Per your article its super prep for LRH.

Jim, could a fellow show up and just shoot to get the drops for 8-9-1000? might be interested in that. wouldn't want to compete. been shooting a little on the power line but you have to walk a half mile to where ya shoot and then walk to the target.

They open up the range on weekends a lot of times for "Rec fire" -Recreational shooting. The first order of business is for everyone to put up their targets and then they start at 100 yards and as the day goes along they move back usually to 600, then 800, 900, and 1000. You pretty much have to be there first thing in the morning in order to get your 100 yard zero.

I will let you know the next time they do. It might be that they will open it up this weekend.

1. The Wpns BN rules and range test for RSOs and the QSC MOA with the base requires the shooters to be members of the QSC or whatever org that signs out the range under their own seperate MOA with MCBQ. The ranges and REC FIRE are Not open to the general public.

2. Metal targets are specifically prohibited for all rec fire in those same rules and briefs. Use of metal targets has to be coord thru the Base Range Control ahead of time on any range. You cannot just show up and put some out on any range, much less REC FIRE.

President of the QSC had his RSO card pulled when acting as an RSO a couple years ago, so violations are not taken lightly. People will lose their privileges and risk being banned from the base if caught violating the rules.

I didn't know the rule about nonmembers being as the Sign In sheet has a place for non-members to check.

Two weeks ago we got into trouble for parking down at the 100 yard line. Apparently, there is a rule about no vehicles allowed below the middle paved road while the range is hot. Then there seems to be even more rules about parking up at the main road.

Ha, parking is the 1000 pound gorilla with Wpns Bn. Depends on which day of the week and the moon phase as to what is allowed this time. good luck figuring out what you can do and not do on that one.

I have to go retake my Wpns Bn RSO test by next weekend, but the last study slides I have still show REC Fire as QSC members only on it. Might have changed. Just found this below on the QSC site.

AMENDMENT TO QUANTICO SHOOTING CLUB RANGE SAFETY SOP 1. Paragraph 11, "Metallic targets shall not be used for any recreational firing" is deleted.
2. In its place is, "Metallic targets constructed of AR-500 steel are authorized for recreational shooting on Range 305. Rifle targets must be placed a minimum of 100 yards from the designated firing line. Handgun targets must be a minimum of 15 yards from the designated firing line. Eye protection is required for all recreational firing participants when metallic targets are being used. Rotating or hanging targets are prohibited from recreational shooting events. "The Range Safety Officer will make the final determination on the positioning and use of metallic targets" Contact: John Murphy Posted: 27 Jul 07
