Gents,

I got my Patagonia Ballistics LoadBase 2.0 Program Running!

I have been using it for an hour or so and what I've seen so far I really like!

Since we are all in the learning process, this would be a place to ask

questions and hopefully we will all help each other!

Thanks to Huntinfool for his help. Well done job! There is still a "Group

Buy" list for those that did not get a chance to participate.

Eaglet,

I'll be curious to see the results you'll get. I thought about joining the group buy but decided to wait as I currently have too many ballistic programs and all but one goes unused. I also have Dr. Pejsa program which is what your program is based off of. The new Patagonia Ballistics LoadBase 2.0 has a bunch more features

My only recommendation when getting your ****** coefficient (Dr Pejsa term) or drag coefficient is to measure the distances very accurately. Don't use a laser range finder as they aren't accurate enough for what you want to do. I use a surveyor wheel I purchased at Home Depot for about $50.00. I tested it at the new high school football field which just laid the new artificial turf. My wheel rolled the 100 yards in 100 yards and 6" consistently.

Also, it's very easy to shoot through a chronograph at 100, 200 and even 300 yards. The more data and especially accurate data you have the more accurate your results will be. Like most things in life garbage in will be garbage out so try to be as accurate as you can.

Once your up and running and you've got a good feel for the program let me know. I'd like to shoot you some data to run through it to see how accurately it matches my actual shooting data.

Best of luck and enjoy the new program

Jeff In TX,

I appreciate your comments. I'll try to get those dimensions as close as I can.

I'm very happy with this program so far, I think that the data base alone is worth the "group buy" price. And it will do so much much more...!

Though I'm still in the process to learn the program, please go ahead and e-mail or PM your info, I'll plug it in LoadBase and it will even create a report in html so I can mail the results in a format that look very nice.

Please, send it to me.

Thanks again!

Eaglet,
Do you have Vista as an operating system by any chance?
Mine is still not up yet.

Patagonia Ballistics!

Hey xphunter,

Here's what Gustavo had to say when I asked him about Vista.

"No problem at all. Many users are running LoadBase 2.0 under Vista.

To install it, just disable the UAC control, that's it!"

I'm sure if you need more help Gustavo will be glad to explain it all to you contact him at ....... [email protected]

Thanks,
Chuck

Patagonia Ballistics!

LOL! UAC is greek to me ask Gustavo to walk you through it or to explain what it is!

I'd never heard of it before it's new terminology to me!

Installation issue in XP

I got mine and had some problems registering it. I (with help from PG) found that you cannot install it in a place other than C:\Windows\Program Files\LoadBase 2.0 UNLESS you copy the file: LoadBase2.all (located in C:\Program Files\LoadBase 2.0) into the folder that you install to. That file is the registration key that they send you. Without it it just runs the registration wizard everytime you try to start it up.
BTW PG support is very good. I did it through email and got timely responses from them. Lots better than some other software companies I've delt with.

Patagonia Ballistics!

Yes Stormrider I agree that PB does give good support.

I've asked Gustavo to come to this thread and help xp out let's give him a little time and see if xp don't get straightened out one way or the other.

Thanx,
Chuck
