My buddy shoots a 6.53(.257) Scramjet. He loads 91 grains of 8700 under a 100 grain Partition. Problem is he is having a heck of a time locating any 8700. What would be a good replacement?
Thanks in advance.

Scramjet

How does he like the scramjet?
I thought about building one of these.
Got any good stories or info maybe it will give me that bug again and I'll build one...LOL

He likes it alot. Not alot of recoil. Only downside is the barrel life is pretty short.

Greetings!!! I'm new and a bit late, but........

For that .257 I am an overly avid user and reloader of the .257!!! God how i love that little round.

From many years of shooting it at Texas deer and wild hogs, with some whistle pigs mixed in....... I put "43 gr. of IMR-4350 under all of my rounds from 75 grain up to Remingtons 120 gr. Core lock. But the most incredible accuracy load I shoot is the 43 gr IMR-4350 under Hornady's 117 gr balistic tips!! Absolutely a consistant repeater of of 3/4 inch groups of of the lead sled~!!!

Best I've found in 42 years! I actually put the IMR-4350 under my 22-250, .257, .270, 7 mm Rem (Super Elk load!). It's a very delightful 'push' of a recoil instead of a sonic blast!

be safe and shoot straight, Jeff S. USA-Ret, DAV, Ohio

PS: I think my son-in-law in Colorado had about 20#'s of 8700...if interested?
I'd check for you, Jeff
