I know that there is a carrier that will ship live amuntiion but "The UPS Store" says their contract won't let them, the USPS says they can't either. Is it only throught the UPS hub that you can ship Live Ammo?

Yes, in my experience only UPS hub locations will ship ammo. The shipping box must be labeled "ORM-D."

I use shot shell case boxes (already labeled ORM-D) to ship rifle and pistol ammo.

That's good news on FedEx. Glad to read they're acting more reasonably. When I went to them a few years ago they wouldn't touch ammo with a ten foot pole. The ladies in the local store seemed upset that I would even ask them to ship such a dangerous commodity. Frustrated with their ignorance, I had them call their regional office. No dice...they just didn't do that.

The UPS hub shipped the boxes quickly, and with a knowing smile when I related my problems with FedEx.

I just had a problem with some factory ammo, and called the manufacturer - they sent me a prepaid FedEx shipping label, with an ORM-D and a "Small arms ammunition" label.

So FedEx MUST be shipping the stuff. "Big Green" wouldn't take a chance!

I load for several people and I ship UPS . I have an account online and print the label tape it on and catch the ups guy and give it to him. I have gotten to the point that I put an orange piece of construction paper on the garage door and he knows to stop. cool UPS guy.

I'm not recomending to do it, but a friend of mine ships pistols around a bit and always tells the person behind the counter, "it's an expensive hole punch."

If you mislabel it, or don't label it, and the package has problems, you can expect to have two FBI or ATF agents on your front porch VERY quickly.

The law is the law guys, please don't get in trouble by avoiding the requirements, especially in todays atmosphere!

On top of that, have you ever watched them unload the semi-trucks? I've noticed that if it says AMMO or ORD on it that they handle it much more gently, no 20 foot tosses!

Now the real funny is why you can ship ammo without the explosives surcharge, but have to pay a surcharge for primers?
