Wyoming antelope hunt?????

I would like to hunt antelope in Wyoming this fall, can anyone point me in the right direction? So far I have looked on the Wyoming Fish and Game dept. website and the only thing that I see is the draw dates. Is there an opportunity for over the counter buck tags or should I just go ahead and put my name in the hat??? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I hunted outside Greybull. Its not that far from the Montana border. I dont know what # it is, maybe someone might know?? My family and I drew 5 tags altogether and the smallest buck we tagged was 13" I got a 14 3/4" buck at around 300 yards. I was chasing a huge 16" or bigger buck for the better part of 2 days. I actually even got lost on a big plateau I climbed and got all turned around. I dont see how, but I was going towards a way I wouldn't have been found for a while. However, his does were very very alert. I couldn't get closer then about 500 yards and back then I was not into LR shooting, so that was way out of my comfort zone. Given that shot today, I think I would have me an antelope on my wall! I'm not to sure if theres much public ground around there, I have relative that owns a farm and thats where we hunted. We also hunted around his farm on the surrounding areas with permission of course. Wyoming antelope hunting is so fun. Man I wish I could do that every year. Its a blast hunting them and what better place then Wyoming.

47 & 48 are both good, lots of antelope and good public ground. 52 is very good as well, but the draw odds probably are not as good as 47. Did you get a point last year? If not you are behind in the points game and will have to put in for a unit that is pretty easy to draw to go this year. If you are willing to pay a little trespass fee there are lots of options in the eastern part of the state and there will be left over tags in most of the eastern units. Apply for one of the good public units and if you do not draw get a point and then apply in the left over draw and maybe pay a small trespass fee, if you have to, and then you are set up to draw one of the public untis the next year. I hunted unit 50 on a leftover muzzleloader tag one year and hunted small plots of public and had a great hunt and saw lots of nice goats. I could go on, antelope are kind of a passion for me. PM me if you want more info and I will do what I can to help you. I am helping Lerch and BJ on another unit in WY, but they have points and so have lots of options.

If you want to hunt antelope in Wyoming, you must enter the draw as all big game licenses are on a lottery system. The Wyoming game and fish department website; Wyoming Game and Fish - includes hunting information and application forms. Just check under hunting and you will see it. Good luck with your application, Wyoming is a great place to hunt.

A few of my buddies and I wanted to put in for antelope for the 2009 season. Any info you could pass along on good units with lots of BLM land in the south central or south west portion of the state would be appreciated.
