I got crazy fast velocities using a 180gr TSX .300RUM and awesome accuracy.
I've used them in my 30-06 and they shot well on paper, but so did the Hornady Interlocks and when I'm pushing a bullet at sub 3000fps and I'm shooting at short distances I'm not going to pay for the premium bullet when I can probably get by just fine with a good ole interlock.
I plan to try the TSX in my 300 RUM in the upcoming months to see if I can make a viable deer load out of it. I'm a bit concerned with them penciling through the deer at that velocity though. Only opening weekend will tell.

There enlies the problem. I don't plan to "long range hunt" these deer. Due to the terrain the farthest I will probably see one is 200 yards, so with a 180gr bullet it will probably hit him at 3100-3000FPS, and thats why I worry about a pencil effect.

The TSX is designed to "open up" and perform. It does just that very well. I used the 100gr .257 TSX in my 25-06 Sendero @ 3300FPS and it killed FAST. Deer was @ 200yds facing away from me. Bullet entered a fraction of a inch from the anus, traveled completely lenghtwise and lodged under the hide in the bucks chest adjacent to the sternum. The deer dropped. Dead.
I recovered the bullet and it was a perfect mushroom. I cleaned up and weighed the bullet on my Denver Analytical Lab Balance, which measures out to the thousandths (.001) of a grain and it weighed 99.986 gn. Not sure what it weighed exactly before the deer, but that's not far from 100.0 gn's.
Accuracy for that bullet/load on paper was one hole. I didn't even measure it because it was literally ONE HOLE. I love them and will continue to use them. Johnny K.

would anyone kindly send me a few boxes as I cant get any here in the UK untill September and then not guaranteed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gifand I have a wild boar hunt booked in Turkey Sept 1st I will obviously pay all costs

The faster they hit the better for opening, Never heard anyone worry about too much speed for opening before.
Every thing that myself and 3 hunting partners have shot with the TSX's have hit the ground pronto. from 20 yards to 777 yards.

hi all
what about meat damage,how much meat damage do you feel is acceptable??because on a lot of estates we go on in the UK,we get charged for meat damage,(witch i don't agree with)but it happens all the same.personally i think it is about putting the beast down with one shot,and causing as little suffering as humanly possible.and in so doing you have to make x amount of damage.i look for a 2" hole on the exist if possible,any thoughts on this and the barns tsx

have you tried, the Midway UK shop?, they advertise that the TSX is in stock.

The other place to try would be York Guns who had just about all the Barnes line in stock, the last time I visited.
