Well I kind of jumped in head first with this one... First rifle build and first wildcat. After nearly 11 months of waiting, my 6.5 Sherman is finally here!

Build Specs:
- Trued Rem 700 Action
- 1:8 Twist Bartlett Light Palma fluted, finished at 26"
- 2 port Mini break
- Greybull precision stock
- Jewel trigger
- PTG bottom metal

All work performed by Dallas Lane, of Lane Precision Rifles.
Here's to hoping I can get a scope mounted and off to the range soon - Med school has taken up the majority of my free time (understatement of the year), so some range time is needed. I'm looking forward to seeing how she handles the 140 Amax, 142 ABLR, and 150 Matrix!

Awesome rifle! Hope you get the time to shoot it! Post results please.

You are going to like it. We have had good luck with N570. It produces some very fast muzzle velocity with 140 gr to 160 gr bullets. I was getting 3339 fps with a 140 Berger for example.

Thanks gents! I'll be sure to update results once I get it up and running.

very nice rifle. what was the final cost?
Around $2400. I could have saved a few $ by going without a brake and using a timney instead of the Jewel trigger though.

Those are some blazing speeds! I'll keep my eye out for that powder for sure...I've been looking for RL-26 as well.

Yeah crazy fast! This was a bit to hot as it loosened the primer pockets after a few loadings. I did try some R26 with the 150 Matrix but could not get the speed that I did with the N570. Just got 200 of the 142 Matrix and will try the R26 again. If I can't get the 142 up to around 3250 fps with R26 I will go back to N570.

Nice rifle. Could you take a picture of the barrel from the 12 o'clock position looking down to the stock/barrel channel (towards the tip of the stock)? I would like to know how well that med. palma barrel fills out the greybull stock's barrel channel. Thanks!

Sorry, didn't see this until now... I'll try to get that uploaded soon!

What kind of optic are you trying to mount on it?

For now, I have a Vortex HS 2.5-10x 44 laying around that I'll throw on it. I'm in med school in VA right now and there aren't any ranges past 100 yards near me. It's pretty thick here as well haha. Once I'm back west in a couple of years, I'll top it off with something with a little more magnification to take advantage of the cartridge. My plan is to move up to a Nightforce NXS.

Here she is... This is actually a light palma contour. I think it works very well with the greybull barrel channel.
