Glock 34 Night Sight Installation

I don’t hunt so much in grizzly bear country so I thought the S&W 460 was a little heavy to carry around as a bear gun and I had a peculiar experience with it one night last year in Utah. So I decided I should have a competition and small bear pistol. I looked at the Glock and Springfield XD long slide guns and finally settled on the Glock 34 although now I wish I had got the 35. With the 35, I could have swapped in a 9mm barrel at little cost and had two guns in one.

The Glock 34 comes with an adjustable rear sight which is nice in the daytime but at night it is useless. I looked at lasers and tactical lights but they all seemed to have too many switches with too many possibilities of not working when needed. So I settled on replacing the factory sight with some tritium sights.

The following sequence of videos is my experience with changing out the front and rear sights and installing new adjustable tritium sights. The one thing I skim over in the videos is the very careful filing and fitting of the rear sight dovetail. This is very touchy business and you do not wish to file too much.

Re: Glock 34 Night Sight Installation

I loaded up some 124 FMJs and went to the range to zero the new sights.

First group is bottom center and I then adjusted the elevation on the sights and shot the top center group. I adjusted the sights once more for elevation and then shot the left bottom five shot group. This is at 20 yards.

I suspect I won't be winning many Olympic gold medals for pistol shooting.

Nice video sequence but I'm afraid the small amount you saved by not using a sight pusher or spending the $20 bucks to have an armorer install your sights is all for not by ruining your slide with the file. That was barbaric.

I'm thinking of starting my own gunsmithing company. I'm going to name it OoP's Smithy. My logo will say "work done the old fashioned way"

I'm working out the details of the sign to go over the shop door but it will be one of these two.
