Anyone hunt grouse up around there before? How was it?

hello, I started my Maine hunting career(35+seasons) in the Jackmen area. Though I went for deer, grouse were always a welcome side line. Hunt along the Moose River east of town. Also alder patches+birch thickets going toward Long Pond onRt.15. Along Rt.201 both north+south of town. Get a topo map and ask for info on recent cutover(2-5yr.old) areas.Many loggin roads to access untouched areas. A good grouse dog sure helps flush these truly wild birds. This area is vast by eastern standards, you will never run out of paper company lands. Dskiper
