I spent several hours in unit 69 last month, sort of advance scouting for a new unit. On the east side of the unit there were several antelope present but the largest bucks I saw were in the 13" range. In fairness it was 3-4 weeks into the season so the bigger bucks might have been shot already. The thing that impressed me the most was how flat the terrain was, in a lot of places you could shoot as far as you wanted to if you could get above the sage. There are terrain features to be sure but for several square miles in some places it would be hard to gain elevation. Also most of the area is accessible/public. I'm sure it would be a fun hunt just might not be much of a trophy unit.

There are nice camping sites at Alcova lake just make sure you lock your vehicle at night, some scumbag stole my draw-bar out of my receiver hitch one night.

So do think it would be safe to say that you should be able to fill your tags if you were drawn for this area just maybe not a trophy. I have been looking at 69 and 72. 72 is an easier draw but 69 has more access.

I would normally say that but I would add that I never thought that I would eat a Wyoming pronghorn tag either, but I did this year!

What unit did you hunt this year. I also was looking at 73 with a special tag it is about 100% chance of drawing. I know it has a lot of public land. You know anything about it.

Re: Wyoming antelope unit 69

I hunted unit 70 this year, last year unit 71. It's a long story but I should have been able to kill a nice buck this year and didn't . I saw some good bucks in unit 72 also, there are some very good walk in areas in 72. Never hunted 73 so can't give any first hand about it.

The Wyoming G&F website has all the info you need, look at the success rates and draw odds as well as access. From what I have experienced, the easier the access, the lower the hunt quality.

Re: Wyoming antelope unit 69

Thanks for the info. I am trying to decide if it is worth the extra money to buy a special tag to hunt an area like 72, 73, or 69, Or take a chance and end up hunting 30, 31, or one you can get easy.
I noticed 72 had a lot of walk in areas that was one reason I was thinking about that one.
