The toughest species of deer

I have never hunted blacktails, but between mules and whitetails in terms of killing them, I'm hard pressed to see a big difference if shot in the vitals with a decent load.
In terms of difficulty to hunt Given mature animals in their natural habitat, I'd give the edge to the whitetail. Much more difficult to stalk and will rarely, if ever stop to look back. I'm not talking about the feeder field whitetail mutations.

The fallow deer seem to have a bit of an attitude and take alot.

In the high country that I hunt I bone out. Then once home I wet a cedar shake and put my most tender back strap on and cook in BBQ for many hrs. Then I EAT THE SHAKE, because the muley is the toughest there is

How thick of Kevlar was this 7 yr old tough guy wearing?

Guess I've killed a couple hundred muleys/whitetail/elk and haven't had that problem as yet.

Sounds like I'd have your friend take some of Broz's advise - Shoot Bergers. At 200 yds it shouldn't take much of a rifle.

In my neck of the woods my vote goes for white tail.
Have shot mulies and white tails with .270 win and .308 win.
All one shot kills on mulies. At least two shots on every white tail.
