Re: Sad news from Eastern Montana

It's all par for the course. When one segment is elated (cottonwood tree huggers) another segment is dissatisified (hunters).

Such is ife in the United States.....

Personally, I can't stand cottonwood trees. Filthy and soft wood.

Cottonless cottonwood isn't so bad but native cottonwood is a car radiator plugger..... cut 'em all down.....

Didn't like cottonwoods growing up cause I had to split the punky crap but a lot of wildlife in the river bottoms rely on the cottonwoods, coon, turkeys, owls and such plus it makes better habitat than the willows that grow up in their place, supposedly it's kinda a linch pin in the river bottoms here, I know the trapping has changed over the last 20 years as we have less cottonwoods.

great thing about forums that have members from all over is the diversity of views. I just view native cottonwood as a large invasive weed that makes a mess.

I will say that deer have a varied appetite. They have methodically eaten all of the arborvitae around our house in western michigan (where we hunt). They have completely denuded all the bushes of any green.

    Must give 'em minty breath......
