I don't know where you hunt, but if it's around Pryor there's nothing wrong with a good old 30/30. However, my wife told me a few years back that she wanted to hunt. So I found her a Ruger 77 in 260, she shot it great and loved it, but never hunted one damn day. My point is, get her something you will enjoy as well, if she changes her mind. For me, I did eventually get rid of the Ruger, to a guy looking for a rifle for his son. I didn't like the Ruger, but it started a love for .264 caliber I still have. IMO the best caliber for deer. If I had it to do over, I would get her a DPMS LR260 or LR6.5CM, with a muti-position AR stock. Or even an Alexander Arms 6.5 Grendel. I have a three year old daughter, and I plan to have a Grendel waiting for her...
