New Mexico Unit 26 Mule Deer Advise

Guys and Gals,

I just got drawn for a New Mexico Mule Deer hunt in Unit 26 - I'm looking for some feed back / advise for a do it yourself hunter. My Tag is for Nov, Rifle.

Any suggestions on where to start scouting would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Rick

Where is unit 26? I drew unit 15 for deer and unit 32 for antelope.

Unit 26 is the very most southern tip of NM, it's on the west side of the state and it boarders on Mexico.

I'll ask around, I've never been south of Lordsburg.

That can be a rough hunt. Make sure you have a good GPS that shows private and public land. You might want to hunt the Wilderness areas and focus on water. There are a few BIG irrigated fields down there so i would focus around those...
PS.. Ask Border Patrol when you are out there. They usually have a good idea of where the deer are..
