A couple long range kills me & my wife

Thought I would share my wife's 439yd. whitetail doe harvest from this year.
We were really wishing we had a buck tag, but he'll be bigger next year

We headed out about 4:30 in the afternoon to get to our spot before dark, spotted these two as we were coming in, I ranged them at 439yds. and dialed the elevation, my wife was using our 7-300wsm with 180 Berger's and the video clip tells the rest..........

Here is a 653 yd. shot that I had to work a lot harder for. My wife and I headed into a normal good hunting spot and spotted these about 3/4 mile in all in all we ended up walking in 12" of crusted top snow. we were able to stay hidden in a creek bottom then just popped up over the hill and laid down by the fence, my wife did the videoing, I ranged these critter at 653 yd.. and dialed in the drop. Wind was under 2 MPH. I took this shot with my 7-300wsm with 180 Berger's as well. The shot went in just behind the front shoulder centered perfect int he body ( if you tube didn't loose so much quality you would be able to see the bullet trace go right into her, in fact if you look real close you may be able to see it, but it's not very clear. After the shot my wife headed toward the animal and I walked a mile back to the pickup and drove around to meet her at the critter which had fallen just on the other side of the hill. All in all it was a very good memorable hunt. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for looking.

Nate,

you both did an awesome job with video cameras and shooting. I did enjoy that very much. You did great panning the camera after your wife shot. Good memories that can be played and replayed.

Out of curiosity, what model of video camera do you use? I seem to be asking this question a lot.

Re: A couple long range kills me & my wife

You are lucky to have a wife who will hunt with you. My wife loves to hunt, just not with me She says I am too noisy with all my longrange stuff, and am lucky to have longrange equipment otherwise I would never connect.

Great job, thanks for sharing.

I finally got my wife shooting long range, and she loves it. She is shooting a 22-6.5x47 Lapua with 80gr bergers. I started her out shooting those miniture pumpkins that are about 6 inches tall. It took her two shots to hit the first one at 800 yards. Se was hooke when she saw it splatter.

Thats so cool that your wife hunts with you mine did when I first met her but now all she wants to do is play with her horses.

Your camera skills are getting much better to.
