Best caliber for deer out to 800 yards

I absolutley have no idea all the shots where I hunt are 250 yards and in. I use a 7mm-08. No idea what it takes to shoot 600-800 yds.

I love my 300WM..
Savage 110 action with a factory 112 barrel.
Dropped a doe at 720yds 2 years ago with it, 210gr Berger at 2875 or 2925, cant rem which.
It works.
Good scope and a good load will go a long ways. Practice, practice, practice and practice some more..

I agree with the 6.5 Creedmore it's a good choice. That said I also like and shoot a 243AI, 6.5 Grendel AR, 7-08, 308, 280, 30-06 and 300Win Mag. I've shoot deer with them all. The 300WM smokes them. I've taken a couple with the 243AI and it's capable of 800 yards if the conditions are common. The 7-08 has taken elk and deer to 650 yds with one shot kills. I'm currently varmint hunting with the 6.5 Grendel and have killed coyotes and jackrabbits to 600 yards.

Research and than buy what YOU feel fits your needs.

I would agree with the creedmoor as well. And you cant go wrong with a 6.5-284. My wife shot a nice muley buck at 675 yards last year with a 308.

I think the 6.5x47 Lapua with 120dn prvi partizan bullet. It has 512 bc and it's around 3050fps.

The main thing is shot placement, over and over again. If you can't hit the target it does not matter, Your gun needs to shoot a good 4" group at that range or better.
