I have some different ways, but i like the barn wood. I'm planning on doing a pheasant standing on a barn board with some gold rye grass behind.

Looks great.
I just made a picture frame out of old grape stake style fence boards and it came out great.
Old wood has such character. It adds to the picture or in your case the heads. Great job.
