Well mine doesnt float, I have heard that it makes a difference with this stock when shooting off a bipod, which I do. I'm not a crack shot but can usually get ~1.5moa
I'm very tempted to fit a Wilddog Stock to find out if that helps though...

It should. I have a rem 700 police in 308. I was a bit disapointed in this gun from new. I had to re bed the action. re crown the muzzel & do a trigger job for it was far too hard. In the states these rifles cost less than $ 1000 at this price i would expect to do some work on it being an entry level long range gun. However the mark up is horrendus in aust.. Rec retail is $1700 then you have to modify it too get it to shoot straight. Back to floating. Re bed it first then float. Hope this helps, sorry about the winge.

Re: remington sps varmint

Hi dean, i have a SPS varmit in 308 and mine wasnt a floating barrel but i changed the stock to a bedded AICS which turns it into a floating barrel.... it averages around .4'' or better @ 100m. i was using it out to 1200m so it will do the job... the stock in aust is around $1800 but can get through AI in the UK for around $1100. You could get away with spending $2200 with Rifle and stock...

Re: remington sps varmint

Dean - the factory stock on the reming sps rifles are a piece of tupperware. it is not stable enough to free float your barrel in it. The better option is to get another stock and have the action bedded into it. My nephew's rifle is a great example of the things you can do with a factory rifle to make it shoot better:

Nephew's Transformed Rifle!
